ITV Emmerdale fans confused as they share same complaint over Dawn baby blunder

Emmerdale fans have been left perplexed after they noticed Dawn Fletcher’s umbilical cord wasn’t cut after giving birth.

Tensions were running high on Thursday’s episode (December 21) when Dawn realised that she was going into labour. But Dawn was in the wrong place at the wrong time as she was out enjoying the Christmas festivities on offer in Emmerdale’s town centre.

Noticing that she could no longer put on the pretense that all was fine, Dawn was later rushed back to Home Farm so she could have her water birth. Joined by her husband Billy things became emotional when Dawn delivered her baby with help from her midwife.

Delivering her little boy safely, Dawn and Billy were all smiles as they went on to name their newborn child. But as the pair cradled their son, fans noticed that the umbilical cord was not cut and not mentioned at all.

Dawn gave birth to a baby boy in Emmerdale

Taking to X formerly known as Twitter, fans shared their confusion. One viewer said: “A baby born with NO umbilical cord….only in Emmerdale!!!”

Another viewer said: “Water baby just wow. Didn’t know that happened like that, in water no after birth nor umbilical cord. Water birth is the way forward …”

A third chimed: “A baby born with no umbilical cord is ridiculous.” A fourth asked: “Where was the umbilical cord?”

While another viewer joked: “Fastest birth I’ve ever seen by Dawn – almost heard the ‘pop’ – no umbilical cord either. Apparently, the NHS is now phasing them out.”

But others seemed to have another complaint about the baby storyline as they deemed it to be unoriginal. Dawn follows a long list of soap characters who have given birth on Christmas Day or around the festive season.

Fans shared their annoyance regarding the storyline

Seeing history repeat itself again, fans headed back to social media to air their grievances. One person wrote: “Not another Soapland Christmas baby”. Another echoed: “Someone having a baby at Christmas on a soap. How very original.”

While a third fumed: “F**k me. This is actually terrible. What even is the big storyline for #Emmerdale this Christmas? Even #Corrie seems too have nothing planned this year at least #EastEnders iss marketing theirs.”
