BBC Strictly’s Craig Revel Horwood’s career after retirement as he prepares to ‘enjoy life’

Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood is rumoured to be leaving the BBC dance show – but what could he do next?

It has been reported that Craig, 58, has been thinking about leaving – though he has recently set the record straight and said it could be when he is 60 – which would be January 2025.

In a previous interview with This Morning, Craig said: “I’ll do that when I’m 60, hang up my shoes and enjoy life.” But in a year’s time, what could he possibly turn his hand to next? We asked Bard AI…

The AI site said: “Craig Revel Horwood is a man of many talents, so predicting his next move after Strictly Come Dancing is quite tricky! He’s a skilled ballroom dancer, choreographer, director, author, and even dabbles in acting.”

Because of this, the tool thinks there are a few things that could take his fancy, including theatre work, which sits at the top of the list. However, it believes he’ll continue to focus on directing and choreography.

Writing could also be at the top of the list, with AI stating: “Craig has already published two autobiographies, and he’s known for his witty and often brutally honest commentary. He could write more books, perhaps focusing on dance, theatre, or even celebrity tell-alls.”

Reality TV gigs aren’t too far from Craig’s mind either it seems, with the tool believing he could land a gig hosting his own show. But if he wants to move away from the glitz and glamour that is the world of showbiz, he could become a teacher and focus on his workshops and masterclasses.

Craig confirmed just before Christmas that he will be returning to the judging panel in 2024, but stated on This Morning that he may not do as many performances on stage. He had sparked fear of his last series in the weeks beforehand, but he’s still got more left in him.

Last year, he declared he wanted to “enjoy life” when he turns 60, but currently loves what he does. However, he had previously stated he wanted to retire when he turned 50.

He previously said on Kaye Adams and Karen Mackenzie’s How to be 60 podcast: “I wanted to retire at 50. I’d set up a plan to retire at exactly 50, from when I was 25 and I was doing Miss Saigon.
“And now I’m coming up to 60 and I still haven’t retired, so there you are.”
