Emmerdale legend Lisa Dingle made a shock return in heartbreaking scenes.
Her daughter Belle Dingle tied the knot with Tom King during Thursday’s (February 15) hour-long episode of the ITV soap but their wedding bliss didn’t last long.
Tom dragged his new wife to consummate their marriage on the sofa and after they slept together, Belle reached over and picked up her letter from her late mum Lisa that Sam Dingle had given to her having held onto it for the five years since she died.

The newlywed told her husband: “I’m going to read mum’s letter. It doesn’t matter if my mascara runs now. She was so lovely, always knew the right thing to say.” However instead of supporting his wife, Tom lashed out, cruelly mocking Belle saying: “Because now’s the right time.
“Every time I’ve tried to get close to you today, to enjoy our day, all you’ve done is bang on about that, your family. And yet you can never see it. Sam cutting the photos short because he couldn’t stop moaning that he was hungry, Nate starting a punch up and trashing the place.
“You know what, it doesn’t even matter because your family had already turned it into a junkyard with that tatty banner and that filthy boot on our table. And then we have Mandy looking like a slob. I thought we might have one day where it was about us, one day where you actually considered putting me first. But no. You just let your family ride roughshod, take over and ruin over the entire thing.
“You know, at least I know where I stand in your priorities moving forward. I’m going to bed and for the first time today you can actually do what I want and you can sleep down here on your own.” Belle was left shaken took out her mum’s letter to read it alone.
Viewers could then hear actress Jane Cox voice as Lisa as read the letter as a voiceover. The letter read: “My dearest Belle, if you’re reading this, it must be your wedding day. And I wish with all my heart that I could be there with you.
“I wish I could’ve met the man you’ve chosen to marry because he must be quite a fella. I know you, my bright and beautiful girl and I know you’ll have chosen well. A kind good man who’ll look after you forever now that I no longer can. I’ll rest easier knowing you’re so happy. All my love, mum.” Belle broke down as she struggled to come to terms with Tom’s cruelty and her mum’s words. Fans will have to wait and see if Belle and Tom live happily ever after.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
