Sunday Brunch’s Simon Rimmer lifts lid on off-air fallout with co-star Tim Lovejoy

TV presenter Simon Rimmer has admitted he had a behind-the-scenes fall out with his co-star Tim Lovejoy.

The Sunday Brunch star has hosted the Channel 4 daytime show with the TV chef since it launched back in 2012. The dynamic duo has been close friends both on and off-screen since they started working together on the show.

But it hasn’t always been plain sailing for the double act, as the 60-year-old opened up about their working dynamic during a podcast interview. When the dad-of-two joined Simon King and the late David Myers on The Hairy Bikers Heart and Sole podcast, he confessed that former Soccer AM star Tim fallout and disagree every once in a while.

The top chef confessed: “Yeah, of course we do. We don’t take each other seriously, but we take what we do seriously. I always think that’s a nice way to be as a human being.

“The thing is, in the 15 years we’ve worked together, we’ve never had a serious falling out.” The TV personality explained that the reason behind their occasional fall out is usually over petty issues.

He went on: “Sometimes he might say something live, and I’ll think, I really didn’t want my family to know that.” Keen to move on to another topic, Simon turned the question to the Geordie duo and asked if they have had any disputes in the past.

And Dave, who passed away last month, said at the time that they had a “bit of a barmy” during their first show in Namibia. Si explained that they were like a “pair of slippers” and that “you can’t have one without the other.”

Simon them spoke about when he first met Tim and claimed they hit it off straight away, but that Tim wasn’t his first choice of presenter – Good Morning Britain host Andi Peters was. He recalled that when Andi moved to ITV, they were left without a presenter.

But Tim jumped at the chance to join the show and the pair bonded straight away. He said: “When I first met Tim, we hit it off on day one. You meet people and think, I like them. We hit it off.”

It’s fair to say Tim looks completely different from when he hosted Soccer Am with his co-star Helen Chamberlain. Last year, the broadcaster reunited with his former co-star for the first time in 16 years.

As a treat for fans, the pair recreated a picture together and it’s fair to say they look completely different years on. Tim previously sported a full head of blond locks, with the dad-of- three now opting for a clean-shaven look.

Helen has swapped out her snuggly cream jumper and soft beachy curls for a skintight fitness outfit and slicked back golden tresses which she pulled up into a high ponytail. Tim captioned the post: “When Soccer AM was brilliant” as their loyal fans rushed to compliment them online.

One user penned: “Those were the days” as another agreed: “Legends of Tele” meanwhile a third echoed: “Best TV duo.” A fourth cheekily quipped: “At least Helen hasn’t changed a bit.”
