Stacey Solomon forced to hold back tears as Channel 4 show turns emotional

Stacey Solomon was struggling to hold back her tears as her new Channel 4 show became emotional.

The TV star, is currently fronting her own Renovation Rescue programme and on Wednesday’s (May 8) instalment she headed to Cambridgeshire to help Shariqa and Imani finally finish their project.

Shariqa and Imani had already shelled out their life savings on the property that was no where near finished. They were living with parents and trying to redecorate in their spare time and not seeing results.

They had already spent £40,000 and had just £10,000 left to spend on the whole house. They needed flooring, a staircase and a entire kitchen to be fitted for the small budget. On top of that, Shariqa had expensive ideas, such as marble tiles, lavish worktops and a pot tap fitted to her stove.

Stacey stepped in to have a difficult chat with Shariqa. She told her: “£10k is a difficult budget and to be honest with you, we might have to re-think marble tiles because that will eat into a lot of your budget.”

Shariqa was sceptical at first as she had set her heart on expensive tiles. However, with a gentle nudge from Stacey and some guidance from the Channel 4 experts she was shown black and white porcelain tiles instead.

They didn’t have the same price tag but Stacey urged that they were just as affective and would still look amazing. Shariqa wasn’t convinced but took Stacey’s advice and opted for the cheaper option.

Little did she know at the time, that the host actually had plans for Imani to help with laying the floor tiles himself. They called in the renovation expert to provide the amateurs with some tips and he got to work with re-designing their floor for just a small amount of their budget.

Meanwhile, Stacey decided to put Shariqa’s DIY skills to the test as she took her off to the garden to show her how to cut material for panelling walls. After a nervous start, the novice proved to be a wonder with the electric saw.

Along with the TV host’s help, they got to work with panelling walls and were amazed with what they’d achieved so much that tears were shed. Shariqa began to cry, setting off Imani. Stacey lunged in to give them both a comforting hug and struggled to hold it together while speaking off camera.

She said: “They really didn’t know how much this meant to them. They’re so emotional because it means so much to finally have their own home.”

At the end of the programme Shariqa thanks Stacey for coming to their rescue adding: “There were so many times that we had chats about just selling this house and getting a different one but I’m so glad we didn’t. It was so worth it.”

The proud owners did however exceed their £10,000 budget and left Stacey flabbergasted that they’d only gone over by £4,000. Stacey said: “Considering you have a whole kitchen installed, the pot tap, expensive furniture, coving, panelling and didn’t scrimp and scrape on work tops, i’m surprised you didn’t go over by much more.”
