Woman admits she’s not Taylor Swift fan but has unusual reason for buying Eras Tour ticket

Tickets to see Taylor Swift are like gold dust, even for those who reckon they’re her number one fan.

Swift exploded onto the scene back in 2006, but it was her 2008 banger ‘Love Story’ that really put her on the map. Since then, her army of Swifties have been with her every step of the way, watching her climb to the top of the music world and become a true icon for this generation.

And for the lucky ones snagging tickets to the Eras Tour, it’s a dream come true. But one lady has shocked everyone as she’s nabbed herself a ticket without being able to hum a single Swift tune!

Comedian Mark Watson hit up X (formerly Twitter) on June 7 to share a bizarre snippet from his train ride. He posted: “Train is packed with Swifties chatting about tonight’s show. Among them, a lady about 50 who doesn’t know Swift’s music but is going because ‘I don’t like to miss out on what everyone’s doing’. She’s in for quite a weird evening, I think.”

Watson was left scratching his head, wondering how on earth she managed to score a ticket without being a die-hard fan, given the mad scramble for seats. He added: “How she got tickets from such a passive starting point, given the demand, I don’t really understand.”

One fan thinks the woman has got life sussed though, replying: “She is in for an intense fan experience for sure but what a perfect attitude to life. She could just sit at home moaning about how music’s not as good as it was in the eighties but she’s out trying new stuff and I hope she has a great time.”

Someone else chimed in, suggesting she must be battling some “really bad FOMO [fear of missing out]” to fork out that much cash. Another shared a personal anecdote: “My darling man’s mum banned him from going to a Foo Fighters gig when he was 16. At the end of the month, I’m going with him in our 30s, despite only knowing the big hits. Sometimes it’s fun to go to gigs with people even if you’re not a huge fan yet.”

Another X user asked: “Erm, how did she wangle a ticket when some of the teenage superfans didn’t? Cheeky! “.

Someone else wrote: “I’m older than that and I’d love to attend a Swift show, I also try to experience younger artists and not just go to the performers of my generation. But I am seeing the Stones this week.”
