Richard Madeley’s GMB co-star ‘won’t hear a bad word said about him’ after backlash

Ranvir Singh, a familiar face on Good Morning Britain for nearly two decades, has opened up about why she relishes presenting alongside Richard Madeley.

The co-star of Richard Madeley on GMB has staunchly defended him, stating she “won’t have a bad word said” about the presenter.

Her backing comes at a time when the 68 year old often polarises viewers’ opinions, with one recent interview being dubbed the ‘worst ever’ as he squared off with politician Kemi Badenoch.

During a conversation with Richard’s GMB colleague Ranvir Singh, Rob Beckett, who co-hosts the Parenting Hell podcast with Josh Widdicombe, labelled the seasoned broadcaster a “TV maverick”.

When Rob asked Ranvir what it was like to present with the host, he pondered: “You never know what he’s going to say.”

However, Ranvir stood by her co-star. She stated: “I won’t hear a bad word said about him and I’ll tell you why.”

“In my view, here is a man who has spent his entire career on television. He’s done everything, seen everything, and sat in that chair, but I’ve sat next to numerous male presenters who don’t know how to present with a woman or another person.”

She continued: “In my experience, most male presenters struggle greatly to share and be generous. But when you sit with Richard Madeley, he’s spent his life double-heading, you know, sitting there.”

She added: “Sitting with somebody who could go anywhere, but you watch it and let it happen, you enjoy the ride, you enjoy the maverick ride.”

Ranvir, aged 46, joins a roster of GMB presenters that counts among them Ed Balls, Susanna Reid, Kate Garraway, Charlotte Hawkins, Adil Ray, and Robert Rinder.

Landing a role on the show in 2014, the single mum has donned various hats, from stand-in for Susanna, to features correspondent and news presenter.

Richard, on the other hand, boasts an illustrious TV career dating back to the 1980s, highlighted by his stints hosting both This Morning and Richard and Judy alongside wife Judy Finnigan.
