Reiss Colwell has been draining his comatose wife Debbie’s bank account but next week he runs into money troubles when her medical bills are unpaid so he takes drastic action.
Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) is met with new troubles in next week EastEnders as his cash flow problems spiral.
During Tuesday trip to Walford (July 9), Reiss’ stress levels are sky high as he looks at an £18,000 bill for his wife’s care fees. Debbie Colwell has been in a care home for some time after suffering a major stroke and remains in a coma.
Reiss has emptied Debbie’s savings to pay for his girlfriend Sonia Fowler’s (Natalie Cassidy) IVF treatment as they long to start a family together, meaning there’s no cash to fund Debbie’s care. But as nervous Sonia heads in for her embryo transfer, Reiss takes a call saying Debbie’s care fees are three months overdue.
Taking action, Reiss decides to rent the spare room out to generate some cash behind Sonia’s back. But she soon catches him out and isn’t thrilled with his latest scheme.

Reiss opens up about his money worries and Sonia reasons they’ll find a way but will not be getting a lodger. However, Reiss is thrown a lifeline when Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) offers him some work chasing her outstanding invoices.
Seizing an opportunity, Reiss decides to use some creative accounting to line his pockets while calling in the money Sharon’s owed. He feels terrible when Sharon gives him his pay, plus a bit extra for doing the job at short notice.
At home, Reiss lies to Sonia that he has enough to pay Debbie’s care fees. Will Reiss’ lies and deceit be exposed?
