EastEnders’ Honey Mitchell has said her goodbyes to Albert Square.
The beloved character, played by Emma Barton first appeared on telly screens back in 2005. And since then, it’s fair to say she’s become a firm favourite with viewers.
Honey has been involved in plenty of hard-hitting storylines too over the years including the ups and downs of marriage with Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick).

And over in the soap recently, Honey, and the rest of the Mitchell clan were left in shock after Billy’s estranged dad Stevie (Alan Ford) rocked up and dropped a huge bombshell: he has another family.
The new family reunited when Stevie was hospitalised after Will Mitchell (Freddie Phillips) pushed the pensioner over following a row. Stevie’s son Teddy visited his dad in Walford General.
He then headed back to the Square with sons Barney and Harry to explore the local area, and his new family. Since then, the new Mitchells have settled into Walford.
And during Monday’s episode (July 8) Billy attempted to put together a surprise birthday for Stevie. However, at the start of the episode, Billy and Honey could be seen sitting outside their house – waiting for a taxi to arrive.
It was then revealed that Honey was leaving Walford to visit Aunt Caroline. And fans were quick to react to Honey’s sudden temporary departure – with many confused as to why she would leave amid the Mitchell family drama.
On X, one person said: “Honey Mitchell runnin’ off to see ‘er aunt Caroline when she’s needed at ‘ome after Will went off the rails!.” Someone else added: “Why has Honey just randomly gone?” While on an EastEnders fan forum, someone else penned: “So Honey’s off to visit her Aunt Caroline. See you soon! I liked the first scene with Billy/Honey.”
Later on in the episode, things took a dramatic turn. At Stevie’s surprise party in The Vic, Billy explained to his son Will that Stevie and Billy’s long-lost mum, Val, shared the same birthday. But soon revealed that he has no idea where his mum is.
Over at the café, Teddy met Stevie and gave him a stern warning to stop lying about Billy’s mum. After overhearing them talking about keeping something from Billy, Phil was intrigued and got his trusted lawyer Ritchie to do some digging.
While at The Vic, Stevie was overjoyed to see the effort Billy and Will went to which sparked Billy to give a speech about his dad, and wish his mum well – wherever she is. But Phil soon arrived and took Stevie aside to show the evidence that Ritchie dug up on him, and it was not good news.
Once back at No.18, Stevie confessed to Billy that his mum is dead while Teddy looked on. Stevie shared the tragic story of Val’s death with his reeling sons Billy and Teddy.
