BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent and Jon Kay shared a laugh on the iconic red sofa this Wednesday morning.
They chatted about an immersive VR journey in Birmingham that whisks people back to the West Midlands circa 1989.
The show featured “In Pursuit of Repetitive Beats,” a virtual reality trip into the heart of Acid House’s beginnings. After the exhibition, the cameras cut back to the presenters.
Sally, encouraging viewers to send in their throwback photos from the 80s, quipped: “Thank goodness there were no camera phones!”
Jon, intrigued about any potential snaps of Sally in full 80s attire, got a firm “No pictures Jon, even you can’t find pictures, Jon,” as reported by the Express.
Not one to miss a beat, Jon cheekily responded: “Oh you’ll be surprised! Go on the dark web and look really really hard.”
With a hint of mock concern, she added: “I worry about you sometimes, I’m going to watch what you’re doing right now while we get the news, travel, and weather.”
Quick-witted as ever, Jon shot back: “I worry about you sometimes. Worry about me all the time! “.
Just earlier in the week, Sally had made her return to the BBC set after covering the Euros.
While Sally was off, fans were delighted to see Nina Warhurst co-hosting with Jon, and the pair received a warm reception.
This week, the dynamic duo returned to our screens on Tuesday morning, following Ben Thompson’s stint at the beginning of the week.
Sally was a member of the BBC Breakfast team for numerous years before she was promoted to a full-time presenter on the show in 2021.
The subsequent year, her colleague Jon Kay joined the programme as a consistent host from Monday to Wednesday, while Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty took over the reins towards the week’s end.
BBC Breakfast continues weekdays on BBC One from 6am.
