Hulk Hogan ‘may take legal action’ against Ben Affleck and Matt Damon over bonk tape film

Hulk Hogan will take legal action if the film about his bonk tape scandal goes too far, it’s been reported.

It’s alleged the 70-year-old WWE legend won’t be afraid to pursue legal options if Ben Affleck and Matt Damon cross the line when making the movie, about his infamous legal battle against Gawker Media. It comes after reports that the Hollywood actors have got a screenplay about it.

But according to TMZ, Hulk has not been in contact with the actors, has no involvement in the project and feels “indifferent” about it. Insiders claim the pro wrestler would step in if he feels the film violates his right to privacy.

They claim he is “is in a really good place in his life right now” as he has a new wife, has become spiritual, and is going after an “exciting new business opportunity with his beer”. They say Hogan, real name Terry Bollea – has also been doing “charitable work with homeless shelter” in Tampa, Florida.

Ealier this week, Variety reported that Affleck and Damon’s production company Artists Equity had acquired a screenplay about Hogan’s legal battle. It’s reportedly written by Charles Randolph and based on Ryan Holiday’s 2018 book Conspiracy: Peter Thiel, Hulk Hogan, Gawker And The Anatomy Of Intrigue.

It said Good Will Hunting director Gus Van Sant has been lined up to direct the flick. And Affleck has been rumoured to be playing Hogan.

Hogan won the court battle against Gawker in March 2016 – a jury ordered Gawker to pay a whopping $141million in damages for publishing a video showing Hulk having intercourse with the then-wife of Bubba the Love Sponge. Gawker, which shut down after the case, had argued that its footage was newsworthy and protected by the First Amendment.

The ruling found Gawker violated Hogan’s privacy by posting the tape, and that the pro wrestling icon had suffered emotional distress as a result of the leak. Gawker relaunched under the ownership of Bustle Digital Group in 2021 but was axed again last year.
