The Inbetweeners reunion hopes crushed as iconic lead star branded ‘mega snooty’

Hopes of an Inbetweeners reunion have been completely crushed.

Fans have been hoping for a new film deal after rumours that Simon, Jay, Neil and Will are set to reunite, however one source has slammed the idea altogether. Sources say that none of the actors are friends and the iconic foursome have grown apart and moved on with their lives.

One industry insider told Mail on Sunday: “Weirdly none of them are really mates and they haven’t been for a few years. Fans all like to think that they’re best pals in real life but Simon Bird and Blake Harrison are mega snooty.”

This comes after the Will McKenzie actor recently disappointed fans of the show by shutting down rumours that a third film is in the pipeline. The 40-year-old actor said: “I’m afraid to be the one pouring cold water on this but it’s not happening.”

An industry insider jokingly quipped: “There’s as much chance of a comeback for The Beatles.” One went on to say that the crew have “grown apart over time” and that there have “of course been a few cross words shared between them over the years”.

The E4 show is a coming of age comedy series that follows the lives of four boys at the fictional Rudge Park Comprehensive. Relatable scenes show the teenagers navigating the ups and downs of life, including friendships, relationships, sexuality, lad culture, bullying and school.

It was so successful that The Inbetweeners was nominated for Best Situation Comedy at the BAFTAs twice, taking home the trophy in 2010. It was also awarded Outstanding Contribution to British Comedy at the 2011 British Comedy Awards.

Two spin-off movies were made, with the first taking place on a lad’s holiday to Malia after completing college and before the gang go their separate ways. The Inbetweeners 2 follows the boys as they take on Australia.
