Cheryl said she found ‘man of her dreams’ after Liam Payne split after ‘floating around’

Liam Payne’s ex Cheryl said after they split that she had found the man of her dreams – their son Bear.

The Girls Aloud star spent over two years with Liam – who died on Wednesday (October 16) at the age of 31 after falling from the third floor of the CasaSur Palmero Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina – and they shared seven-year-old son Bear. In the wake of Liam’s death an interview from The Sunday Times’ Style magazine has resurfaced from not long after he and Cheryl split in 2018.

According to reports, in the interview Cheryl talked about how the former One Direction star had always been faithful to her. She also suggested that she wasn’t looking for anyone else and said that their son Bear was the “man of my dreams”.

“I feel like I’ve had two lives – me before Bear, and me with Bear,” she said. “I’ve always had a shyness and that’s gone. I was always floating around, just not sure of anything, and now I’m certain. I feel like a woman now. I’m not looking for anything any more. I’m whole. I’ve got the man of my dreams.”

Cheryl has paid tribute to Liam following his death, saying how it was “troubling” her that Bear would one day be able to see the “abhorrent reports and media exploitation” after his father’s death.

Sharing a photo of Liam with Bear as a baby, she wrote on Instagram: “As I try to navigate this earth shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I’d like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being.

“Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7 year old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again.”

Cheryl, 41, went on: “What is troubling my spirit the most is that one day Bear will have access to the abhorrent reports and media exploitation we have seen in the past two days.” The singer said that it was “breaking my heart further” that she would not be able to protect their little boy from that in the future.

“I am begging you to consider what use some of these reports are serving, other than to cause further harm to everyone left behind picking up the pieces,” she wrote. “Before you leave comments or make videos, ask yourself if you would like your own child or family to read them.

“Please give Liam the little dignity he has left in the wake of his death to rest in some peace at last.”
