Strictly Come Dancing fans beg ‘please stop’ as they complain minutes into live show

Strictly Come Dancing fans rushed to complain just minutes into the live show.

The BBC dance show returned to screens on Saturday (October 26) with Halloween Week. But instead of enjoying the spooky ballroom scenes, some viewers found themselves getting annoyed at the new introductions to the show.

TOWIE star Pete Wicks was seen getting his freak on as The Joker, with his dance partner Jowita Przystał rocking the Harley Quinn vibe. Meanwhile, EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick and his dance pro Michelle Tsiakkas got their creep on as Wednesday and Pugsley Addams.

Even the judges joined in on the Halloween hijinks, with Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke doubling up as the twins from The Shining, Motsi Mabuse slaying as Cruella de Vil, and Shirley Ballas bewitching viewers as Winifred Sanderson. But fans at home were quick to gripe after the show’s new opening sequence, involving hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

The pair used to make a grand entrance but recently they’ve been appearing after the credits, standing in front of the camera. The judges have been walking in in pairs, and the contestants have entrances that aren’t set to the usual Strictly theme.

Taking to X, one viewer complaining about the new format fumed: “Can they please stop doing these stupid intros. They’re beyond embarrassing for all involved #Strictly.”, reports the Mirror. Another vented: “Please please please stop with Tess and Claudia just standing there.”

A third chimed in: “I still despise the opening to the show.” A forth added: “Why do they have to do the acting stuff at the start now! It’s so boring.”

It comes as host Claudia Winkleman recently revealed the heartbreaking reason why she refuses to wear Halloween costumes. The star tirelessly campaigned to make Halloween costumes safer after her daughter Matilda fell victim to a terrible injury nine years ago.

Matilda, now 18, was eight years old when the witch costume she was wearing went up in flames after she brushed against a candle.b Speaking to Daily Mail Claudia recalled: “I don’t like Halloween because a few years ago it turned out our screams were real.

“She ‘went up’ is the only way I can describe it – it was a spark and she screamed out for me. It was like those horrific birthday candles that you blow out and they come back. It was really fast. It was definitely life-changing for me.”
