P Diddy’s birthday in ‘hell on earth’ prison – strict inmate rules and ‘daily’ psych team checks

P Diddy is spending his birthday behind bars at a prison described as “hell on earth”.

The disgraced 55-year-old rapper, real name Sean Combs, has been locked up at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) after being arrested in September. He is awaiting trial and faces federal charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution.

The music mogul, who denies all allegations against him, turned 55 on Monday (November 4) while incarcerated at one of America’s most infamous prisons. The New York City slammer has held the likes of convicted child sex abuser R. Kelly and Ghislaine Maxwell.

Prison expert James Pipe has revealed what Diddy’s gruelling prison routine likely looks like – and it seems like he’s not getting any VIP treatment. Speaking on behalf of freegrantsforfelons.org, he said: “Combs’ time at MDC reflects the routines and regulations set for all inmates, designed to balance operational security with the needs of those housed at the facility.

“As Combs awaits trial, he will experience the daily regimen shared by past high-profile inmates, with limited but structured access to basic resources.”

It’s said Diddy, like his fellow detainees, gets three meals a day at set intervals. These meals are prepared on site and served in either cells or common areas.

The music mogul has designated hours for exercise and recreation in the prison’s “limited” recreational areas. Combs has access to the prison’s library during specific time slots and is allowed to communicate with approved contacts for personal and legal purposes.

Diddy and his fellow inmates will be experiencing regular lockdowns during their time at the prison so staff can complete cell checks, head counts and maintenance. These periods ensure security and restrict movement within the facility at specific times.

The prison’s exterior presents a bleak picture with deteriorating infrastructure, decaying doors, and an unmanned guard post. Diddy will remain in the building until his trial date, leaving only for hearings.

Another prison expert, Larry Levine, claims Sean Combs will be living a “sad” and “lonely” existence during his time in jail. He also suggests he’s being checked on by a mental health team on a daily basis.

Levine, the director and founder of Wall Street Prison Consultants, said the rapper is getting daily visits from the psych team at the prison “to make sure that he’s okay” even though he is “not really on suicide watch”.

Speaking on the Daily Mail podcast, The Trial of Diddy, Levine said Combs has “somebody from the psychology department coming out to visit with him so it’s like a game that they play with the inmates.” He added: “Remember, he’s not playing chess. He’s in a cell by himself.”

He claims the rapper is getting preferential treatment at the prison – apparently he’s getting “extra showers” every week. He said: “My sources are telling me that [Combs] is getting extra showers a week. I don’t know how many. It probably varies. They’re giving them extra privileges.”

However, Pipe says the music mogul would be getting the same treatment as every other inmate. He said: “Many assume celebrities receive special treatment in prison, but that’s a misconception. If P. Diddy were to serve time, he’d experience the same restrictive environment as any other inmate, with strict regulations and limited autonomy.”

Levine said Combs is living a “lonely experience” at the MDC which has around 1,200 inmates. The prison is mostly used for post-arrest detention for those awaiting trial in the federal courts of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Other prisoners will be serving short sentences following their convictions.
