Actor Ken Shorter has died at the age of 79.
The Australian star appeared in a number of movies between 1969 and 2018, when he retired. He is best known for playing the lead role in the cult classic biker film Stone in 1974.
He also appeared alongside Mick Jagger in 1970 flick Ned Kelly, as well as Disney movie Dragonslayer in 1981. In the UK, Ken had a number of appearances in Casualty, The Bill and Holby City.

It’s reported that Ken died earlier this month in Sydney. No cause of death has yet been revealed, however it is reported that his health had been declining for a number of years.

Australian TV writer Nigel Giles confirmed Ken’s passing on social media. He wrote: “Vale Ken Shorter, Australian actor who worked across stage and screen since the 1960s.
“Known for roles in iconic film and TV productions including You Can’t See ‘Round Corners and Stone, plus guest roles in everything from Play School to Number 96. Lovely bloke.
Before becoming an actor, Ken worked as a police officer and then a truck driver. He would go on to appear in other memorable productions including Skippy the Bush Kangaroo and Dragonslayer, which was a co-production between Paramount and Disney.
It was during his time living in England that he appeared in the likes of The Bill and Casualty. He played a musician and a character called John in Casualty, and had three roles on The Bill in the mid 1980s.
