Scott Mills’ BBC Radio 2 pay uncovered – and it’s much less than Zoe Ball’s

Scott Mills will reportedly earn under half of what Zoe Ball made on BBC Radio 2’s Breakfast Show.

The star is taking over the reins after Zoe announced that she would be stepping down in December after six years. The Sun has now reported that Scott will be paid £450,000 a year for the role, while Zoe made more than twice as much with an eye-watering salary of £950,000.

The publication quoted a source as saying that Scott was “genuinely thrilled” to get the slot and that he “didn’t even ask about a pay rise”. The insider suggested the pay difference comes as the BBC “is under enormous pressure to start making significant savings”.

“I think the world of you listeners and I’m grateful to my bosses here for their support, especially this year. Huge thanks go to my awesome team on the show, Tina, Mike and Richie, and of course our listeners, with whom I’ve shared some of life’s highs and lows, the good, the bad and the daft times.”

Scott said on Instagram that he was “truly honoured to be taking over the biggest breakfast show in the UK from my forever friend”. “I honestly feel that I’ve been lovebombed since the announcement,” he said.

“I’ve worked hard my whole career to get to this point, so I am allowing a moment to soak it all up and be proud of myself,” he said. “This isn’t like me and I don’t do it often.”
