Rapper Jay-Z has hiy back at an allegation he raped a teenage girl together with P Diddy at an awards show, and now a former partner of the star has spoken out
Jay-Z’s former girlfriend has spoken out as he continues to deny an accusation of raping a teenager.
The 99 Problems singer, 55, has been accused of raping a 13-year-old girl together with P Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, at an awards ceremony in 2000. Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Corey Carter, has strongly denied the claim being made against him, insisting nothing happened at the MTV Video Music Awards, while also taking aim at the lawyer who filed the lawsuit.
A lawsuit against the performer was lodged in October against P Diddy, but was refiled on Sunday (December 8) with Jay-Z added. Since then, Jay-Z has slammed the allegation, released a strong statement insisting his innocence, and branded the claim “so heinous in nature”.

The rapper, who is married to Beyoncé, went on to criticise lawyer Tony Buzbee, who has brought more than 120 claims from alleged victims of Combs to court. He also said that the claim will be “unfair” to his family as the entire unit would be affected by the allegation.

Now, one of Jay-Z’s former partners has spoken out, appearing to take aim at the rap legend. Singer Carmen Bryan was romantically linked with Jay-Z from 1995 to 2000, falling pregnant with his child, but sadly having a miscarriage – but only told Jay-Z about the pregnancy after she knew she had lost the baby.
At the time, Carmen was two-timing Jay-Z with his then-rival Nas, with the pair going on to welcome a daughter into the world together. Following on from the release of the allegation, Carmen has given her thoughts.
Taking to her Instagram account, the singer shared lyrics of Jay-Z’s verse on Kanye West’s hit Monster. In the screenshot of the lyrics she highlighted the lines: “Kill a block, I murder the avenues, I rape and pillage your village, women and children.”
In a second snap shared to her Instagram story, she added: “These days people don’t defend what is right, they defend who they like! And that’s why we call you ‘groupie’.”
In a statement released on his social media, Jay-Z attempted to shut down the allegation, insisting he was not involved in the alleged rape of the then-teenager. “These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!” he wrote.
“Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?” he added. “These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”
Following the accusation and the publishing of the lawsuit, Jay-Z has since filed a motion to make the woman who lodged the complaint reveal her identity. Filing the claim on Monday morning (December 9), Jay-Z’s attorney Alex Spiro said that “fair is fair”, and that both sides should be open and transparent on who both sides of the case are.
