Larry Lamb, 77, who plays Mick Shipman in Gavin & Stacey said there’s a reason the cast film the scenes over and over again – and it’ll all be clear why on Christmas Day
Gavin & Stacey stars filmed scenes up to 80 times to get them right. They did them over and over to make sure the show’s big finale is as funny as possible.
It was tough going, but they’re convinced it will all be worth it when the episode makes millions of fans giggle on Christmas Day. Larry Lamb, 77, who plays Mick Shipman said of the filming: “When you’re doing that show, the likelihood is we did that scene for 40 takes.
“By the time you’ve done it for 40 takes, a bit of the joy goes out of it, so you know that the pay-off is going to come when you sit and watch it with your family months later. And indeed that’s what happens.

Creator James Corden, 46, who plays Smithy, has admitted there is a lot of pressure for the special to be up to scratch. He said: “We’ve thrown absolutely everything at this to try to make it be as satisfactory as it can be for a big audience.
“I still feel pressure there’s pressure all the time because you don’t want to let anybody down. I think it’s the closest you could get to being called up to the England team in terms of something meaning a lot to a lot of people.
