Adam Sandler started shooting the highly anticipated sequel to his 1996 classic Happy Gilmore earlier this year, and he’s since dropped huge updates about the movie
Adam Sandler has confirmed that Eminem and a legendary golfer will make a cameo in Happy Gilmore 2.
The Hollywood star, who shot to fame on Saturday Night Live in the nineties, begun shooting the sequel to his beloved 1996 film earlier this year. He’s since confirmed that rapper Eminem makes a “funny as hell” cameo in the movie.
It’s been 28 years since the first film was released which saw Sandler play a hockey player (Happy) who becomes an unlikely golfing sensation in a bid to save his grandmother’s home. And it seems the follow-up film is going to be truly star-studded.
It’s already been confirmed NFL star Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift’s man, will be making an appearance as well as Hollywood star Ben Stiller. But Adam’s now revealed that Eminem has an “insane” cameo in the film, as well as golfing greats Jack Nicklaus and John Daly.
Sandler, who has co-written the film with Tim Herlihy, dropped the Eminem bombshell during an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show. He also revealed production had now wrapped on the sequel and that it could be on Netflix as early as July of next year.
Admitting he could get in trouble for talking about the movie, Sandler said: “I don’t know if — they’re going to yell at me no matter what because they asked me not to do any press, but what do you want to say? You say it and I’ll tell you if it’s good or bad to talk about.”
Partick replied: “Can I talk about Eminem having a cameo?”. Adam couldn’t help laughing as he said: “Okay, yes, yes you can. Eminem was cool, he came by, he was great.”
Sandler, who said he’s known Eminem for a long time, said the Lose Yourself rapper was “funny as hell” on set. He went on: “I’ve known Eminem for a long time, he’s a great guy and he came in and was funny as hell.
“I think we just hung out a day with Eminem and he just shot and shot and he was insane. [He] said a million things we can use and a million that we’re glad we have him on tape.”
Sandler said golfer Jack Nicklaus, widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, will pop up in the sequel. “He came by for a couple of days,” Sander said of the golder.
“All these great golfers came by and they did a great scene and we all hung out. He was amazing and he hung out with us, and his wife was awesome. In the scene I sit next to Jack so I got to talk to him and he was so nice to me, man.”
