Holly Willoughby tears up as she reunites with saviour from ‘scariest moment of her life’

Tonight’s instalment of Michael McIntyre’s Big Show saw a tearful Holly Willoughby reunited with the midwife who helped her through the ‘scariest moment’ of her life

Michael McIntyre’s Big Show delivered an absolute tear-jerker tonight as telly favourite Holly Willoughby was moved to tears in one heartfelt segment.

The BBC funny man whipped up a nostalgic trip with the game Remember Me?, challenging celebs to recall a blast from their past, which follows another nostalgic conversation from Holly recently.

Celebrity Bear Hunt host Holly, 44, aced it without breaking a sweat, recognising that the mystery guest had been pivotal during what she described as the “most scary” yet utterly extraordinary point in her life.

Once Michael prompted Holly to guess who the lady beside him was, the Dancing on Ice star spilled: “I’m thinking that we might have met each other 13 years ago, and the reason why I’m saying 13 years ago is because that was the day my daughter Belle was born.”

Emotions got the better of Holly, tears streaming mid-sentence as the significance of the reunion hit home, all while locking eyes with her visitor amidst audience applause.

Holly elaborated: “And this amazing, incredible woman is called Fredette. And Fredette is a midwife. And Fredette was so amazing because Belle was five weeks premature so she was so tiny, and I was so scared and worried and… I just remember, Fredette, I just remember you saying, ‘We are going to breathe this baby out. We are going to breathe this baby out.’

“And I just listened to you, and it was just your voice then when you just said ‘Do you remember me? ‘ It was your voice. And I’ll never forget your voice,” reports the Mirror.

Holly was tasked with remembering a mystery guest, and immediately broke into tears when she recognised the midwife who guided her through birthing her premature daughter

Michael then addressed Fredette, who assisted in the birth of Holly’s second child – the celebrity also has a younger son and an older son with her husband of 17 years, Dan Baldwin. ‘So do you remember Hol?’ he queried the transformative midwife.

“Yes I do!” she affirmed, grinning at Holly. “What do you recall about that? Because it was quite tense,” the host probed, with Fredette summarising: “It was. But she was smashing.” Holly chimed in again, attempting to articulate how significant Fredette was to her.

“You made that moment that was probably the most – I can’t, it’s really hard to – it’s one of the most frightening things you’ll ever experience, because you just want everything to be okay,” she expressed. After reflecting on her agonising worries over her premature baby, she pointed into the audience and told her midwife: “And my daughter is actually up there. An amazing, beautiful girl, and you were the person who brought her into the world. So thank you, thank you so much.”

Holly’s voice trembled as she offered her sincere gratitude to Fredette, her eyes welling up with tears. Michael then asked if she’d like to come down to the stage, and the star immediately disappeared behind the curtains of her private box to approach the miracle-working midwife.

After dashing backstage for a moment, Holly burst onto the stage alongside Michael and Fredette, sweeping the woman into an extended embrace. The beloved star whispered something to Fredette, which wasn’t caught by the show’s microphones, but eagle-eyed fans could spot her saying “Thank you for coming and doing this, it’s really special,” as she fought back tears once again.
