Reality star and business tycoon Kylie Jenner made, as usual, a stylish entrance to the 97th Academy Awards.
However, in what has become something of a trend this award season, the 27-year-old opted to skip the red carpet. Instead, she surreptitiously joined the audience inside the Dolby Theatre, where she was seated next to her boyfriend, Timothée Chalamet, who was nominated for Best Actor for his role as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown .
While Jenner has been a constant presence at Chalamet’s side throughout awards season, the couple is still yet to walk a red carpet together.
This appears to be an intentional tactic, one that allows Hollywood’s biggest couple to maintain separate public identities while still showing support behind the scenes.
Beyond their strategic approach to public appearances, Jenner had another reason for keeping a low profile at this year’s ceremony. The night marked one of her first public outings since the unexpected and tragic passing of her longtime hairstylist and friend, Jesus Guerrero.
Her makeup artist, Ariel, shared a tribute on Instagram while showcasing Jenner’s look for the night — a black Miu Miu gown adorned with sequins and dramatic cut-outs, paired with 50 carats of black diamonds.
Despite their frequent public appearances together, Jenner and Chalamet continue to avoid red carpet debuts as a couple. Instead, they seem to prefer a more private approach, keeping the spotlight on their individual careers rather than their relationship.
That doesn’t mean they aren’t serious — in fact, sources close to the couple suggest that their bond is only getting stronger. With Chalamet’s Hollywood clout and Jenner’s business empire, their pairing has only enhanced their star power.
On the night, Chalamet once again missed out on an Academy Award, losing to Adrien Brody, who took home Best Actor for his performance in The Brutalist.
Had Chalamet won, he would have made history as the youngest-ever winner in the category — but instead, he now holds a 0-2 record for Best actor nominations.
The loss was undoubtedly a blow, especially after months of buzz around his transformation into Bob Dylan. Jenner, however, was by his side throughout the night, offering support as he processed another near miss.
