Gene Hackman police ‘focus on 3 big clues’ after double death and mummification

Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arawaka were found dead in their home and police are now looking into three key clues that could reveal what happened to the couple

Police are reportedly focussing on three pieces of evidence after Gene Hackman and Betsy Arawaka’s deaths.

The star and his wife were tragically discovered deceased in their home last week with their bodies in a state of decay. One of their dogs was also found dead in a closet near Betsy, while two other dogs were alive.

One was found close to Betsy’s remains and another in the garden. The last heartbeat recorded by Gene’s pacemaker was on February 17th, yet the events of that day remain shrouded in uncertainty.

Former FBI agent Bill Daly has now explained that police are focussed on the couple’s phones, pills, and their trash as they piece together what happened. Speaking to Fox News Digital, Daly said: “After receiving the cell phones, investigators can determine when they stopped moving, when they lost communication, which can tell the time of disablement or death.”

“They can do geolocating around the property to see what was pinging around that time, though they won’t be able to tell who without a warrant, but can tell what activity there was before and afterward, even if they’re not suspecting foul play.”

In other news, Santa Fe police are scrutinising the toxicology and despite finding no traces of carbon monoxide, they’re investigating whether food poisoning could be to blame, reports the Mirror.

Officers will likely probe through garbage and refrigerated items for clues. Yet, Bill points out a critical detail that demands further attention.

He commented: “There was something about the way that his wife was described in the bathroom that I think is worth looking into a bit more. And she was in the bathroom.”

“I guess there was a space heater and there were some pills that seemed to be strewn, and I don’t know where, if that space heater was turned on. That might change the way her decomposition looks. Having a heat source close to the remains really does change decomposition rate.”
