Ozzy Osbourne desperate for Oscars win – but not for the reason you expect

Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne, who will be playing his final farewell show in July, has admitted that he’s desperate to win an Oscar and it’s not for what you’d think

Ozzy Osbourne is desperate to win an Oscar.

The Brummie singer dreams of getting his hands on a gold statuette, but admits it won’t be for acting. He ruled himself out of playing a lead movie role because nobody can decipher his unique accent.

Although many know that Oscars are awarded for acting, many have been awarded to singers and songwriters over the years. The Prince of Darkness reckons he could win a gong for songwriting like his long-term pal Sir Elton John instead.

The 76-year-old admitted: “I am not a f****** good actor. You can’t understand me when I’m talking let alone when I’m f****** acting.”

He confessed his life-long desire on his Sirius XM show, saying it’s the only award he still craves. The icon, who returned to live in the UK last year, said: “Once you get an Oscar, you’ve done it. Elton John got one for a song.

“I still want to carry on. I am not ready to throw the towel.”

“I have more songs in me. I want to write something uplifting!”

Ozzy also admitted that he has bagged so many awards that he sometimes forgets how many he’s got: “To be honest there was a point where I thought how many f****** awards are there?”

“They should have an award for the best award show. It was crazy for a while.”

Asked whether winning music gongs means as much to him as it did when he was younger, Oz replied: “To be perfectly honest with you, I don’t know.”

Ozzy’s final gig in Birmingham’s Villa Park on July 5 recently sold out in just 10 minutes. It will be the first time that the original lineup of Black Sabbath – Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward – have played together in 20 years.

Metallica and Guns N’ Roses are also on the all-star line-up.
