Married at First Sight Australia viewers have been left seething after it was announced that two former stars are set to make a return to the experiment this week
Married at First Sight Australia viewers are up in arms after it was revealed that two former contestants will be making a comeback to the show, but fan-favourite Katie isn’t one of them.
The 12th season of the hit reality TV show is currently being broadcast on E4, with a new group of hopefuls tying the knot and facing their fair share of matrimonial chaos.
The upcoming episodes promise even more excitement as new brides and grooms are set to join the fray, but there’s a catch – some of them have already had a go at marriage on the show.
On Sunday (March 23), E4’s official Instagram account posted pictures of fresh faces Beth, Clint, Teejay and Veronica, alongside returnees Lauren and Eliot.
“Introducing (and reintroducing) the rest of this year’s #MAFSAU brides and grooms!” the post’s caption read.

MAFS enthusiasts will remember 37-year-old entrepreneur Lauren and 35-year-old businessman Eliot, who were originally paired by the experts earlier this season, reports OK!
Eliot immediately caused a stir with his list of “non-negotiables” for a spouse, declaring that he didn’t want a “trashy, obnoxious woman” and wouldn’t proceed with the wedding if he wasn’t pleased with his bride’s appearance.
Lauren appeared to agree with many of Eliot’s traditional views on gender roles, and the duo seemed to click at the altar. However, their relationship took a nosedive during their honeymoon.
After a few heated exchanges over dinner, Eliot concluded that Lauren didn’t tick all his boxes and chose to leave the experiment after just two days.
“He’s just closed off because he didn’t get exactly what he wanted. He’s so annoying, I can’t stand him,” vented Lauren, who later accused Eliot of robbing “this experience” from her.
Following his hasty exit, Eliot caught up with expert John Aiken to justify his decision, admitting: “I’ve been pretty consistent with what I’ve been looking for. The person I was matched with was nothing like that. I was expecting to meet a cute librarian-like girl that was younger than me, and I ended up with what felt like a Kardashian sister.”
With the news that Lauren and Eliot will re-enter the experiment with fresh partners, MAFS enthusiasts are frustrated, with many taking their grievances to social media. “It’s a joke now,” one viewer complained, while another chimed in: “It’s not right.”
A third echoed the sentiment, saying: “Eliot should not be allowed back on the show, that’s ridiculous.”
Meanwhile, others fans are disappointed that past bride Katie wasn’t offered a second chance, given her tough stint on the show.
At the beginning of the series, 37-year-old business manager Katie seemed to hit it off with 38-year-old primary school teacher Tim, at least on paper.
However, Tim was quick off the mark to confess to producers that he didn’t feel a “spark” after meeting his bride at the altar.
Despite getting wind of Tim’s lack of attraction, Katie was all in to give it a go on the honeymoon, but her groom wasn’t playing ball, and even jetted back to Melbourne when they were meant to be moving into their shared apartment.
To add insult to injury, Tim told his co-stars that he was “making the most effort” in the relationship – leaving Katie to ponder what on earth had gone on between them. Unsurprisingly, the couple opted to “leave” at the first commitment ceremony.
In response to the new brides and grooms, one fan said on Instagram: “Katie should of been given another chance with someone decent,” while another chimed in: “Eliot what?! Where is Katie?!”
Another viewer similarly said: “Katie should have been given a second chance,” and yet another echoed: “Why can’t Katie come back as well?”
Married at First Sight Australia airs Monday to Thursday on E4 at 7.30pm
