Glamour model Katie Price has expressed some major concerns about her eldest son Harvey, who has Prader-Willi syndrome, as she worries about his “complex needs and medications”
Katie Price has some serious concerns about her son Harvey.
The 22-year-old has Prader-Willi syndrome, which can cause learning difficulties, muscle weakness and a large appetite.
She recently spoke about him on her podcast, The Katie Price Show, and explained her biggest worry regarding her eldest son.
Pricey worries about what would happen to Harvey if she died: “Obviously, we’re doing something with the doctors and stuff but because of his complex needs and medication he’s on, things aren’t as easy as that. It’s always a constant worry – like if I die, what’s going to happen?”
“You’ve always got to make sure everything’s in place. Whether I’ve got money or not, it’s not about that. It’s Harvey’s rights and making sure that everything’s set up for him. I know the family would be there but it’s Harvey’s right and you have to make sure everything is in place. I love my Harvey Price.”
Katie also admitted that “one of the most difficult things” she has to deal with is the thought of “leaving him with carers or full time residential care”.
The former glamour model sees this as a “massive worry” because Harvey does not “speak like us”. However, as he’s gotten older he has “gotten better” at communicating.
“No one’s going to ever look after your son how mum does it. Even when I tuck him in bed and stuff like that, it’s a mum thing. Of course there’s been challenges but that’s not Harvey’s fault.”
Pricey said that she “always looks forward to seeing him” but has to prepare herself for a “lack of sleep, Harvey going in the cupboards and the constant ‘mum, mum'”
“Obviously the last time I took him back to college, he communicates enough to say: ‘I’m so sad mum, I’m so angry I have to go to college, I hate it. And I hate it’ and it’s not long until he moves near me and then there’s no worry. It’s just his weight that’s the huge thing at the moment.”
