With Oasis set to kick off their much-anticipated tour in Cardiff on Friday, fans are taking bets on which words could first be said by frontman Liam Gallagher.

Known for his lively language and repeated phrases, many fans are considering his opening lines. Dave James, odds analyst at Whataretheodds.co.uk, said: “The first word out of Liam’s mouth might seem like a novelty market, but it’s one that fans are engaging with in a big way.

“‘Alright’ has that classic Gallagher energy and feels like the natural opener. But with this band, nothing is ever entirely predictable – don’t rule out a dramatic ‘Oasis’ or a crowd-pumping ‘Come on’ either.”

Liam Gallagher isn’t known for keeping quiet

With the band’s opening night set for July 4, 2025 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, odds suggest “Alright” is the frontrunner at 3/1 (25%), capturing the anticipation of fans hoping for a familiar, no-nonsense Liam welcome.

Also strongly fancied are “Oasis”, “Hello”, and “Come” – all tied at 4/1 (20%), with fans speculating whether Liam will kick things off with swagger, sentimentality, or a cheeky nod to the band’s legacy.

Other words which punters have placed a bet on are: “Let’s”, “how”, “have”, “it’s” and “guess”.

The show marks the first time Oasis will perform together since their dramatic split in August 2009, when a backstage fight between Liam and Noel Gallagher in Paris led to the band’s sudden demise.

Photos of the band exiting rehearsals held in London emerged back in May, which showed Noel Gallagher, Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, Gem Archer and Andy Bell at the venue.

Liam, who was initially resting his vocals, joined the band on June 3. The band have been heard completing sound checks in Cardiff ahead of Friday, with some fans standing outside to listen and compile a supposed set list.

Songs on this list include Rock ‘N’ Roll Star, The Masterplan, Live Forever, Roll With It, Cigarettes and Alcohol and Wonderwall, among others. However, just days before the brothers are set to take the stage, Liam appeared to leak some information about the tour, before quickly deleting the evidence.

Liam tweeted: “Oasis on stage 8.15pm Cardiff, don’t be late or we’ll start without you and you don’t want that now do ya see ya there LG x,” but it was shortly removed from X/Twitter and later confirmed on the band’s official account.

Opening the tour as the first support act is 90s Liverpool band Cast. The band were formed with recognisable frontman John Powers after his split from The La’s.

The Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft will then takeover before making way for the anticipated reunion between Liam and Noel.
