EastEnders star Shobu Kapoor has landed herself a role on Mrs Brown’s Boys. The actress is one of the guest stars on the new series. An insider on the comedy said: “Shobu read the script and absolutely loved it. She’s in a really funny episode.”

Shobu became a telly favourite playing Albert Square’s Gita between 1993 and 1998. Since then, she’s starred in the films Bend It Like Beckham and The Infidel as well as shows such as Bridgerton and The Split.

Mrs Brown’s Boys producers are thrilled they convinced her to join the cast. Our source added: “Getting Shobu is a real coup. She’s known to millions of viewers.

Despite being a hit over the years, the ratings for Mrs Brown’s Boys have been dropping in recent years.

The show has rolled out five series and a dozen Christmas Day specials since 2011. But since a whopping 11.52 million UK viewers tuned into the first festive special in 2013, it’s been on a bit of a downslide since.

The latest 2024 Christmas special managed just 2.2 million viewers, reports the Mirror.
