Reality TV personality Mama June is never far from family drama, with her daughter, Pumpkin, admitting she is in a new relationship with her ex-husband’s cousin
Reality star Mama June has been left shocked after her daughter Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird showed off her new boyfriend – who also happens to be the cousin of her ex-husband.
The latest episode of Mama June: Family Crisis, focused on Pumpkin. Previously, she filed for divorce from Josh Efird in August 2024 after six years of marriage. However, she dropped a bomb shell in the new episode, in the form of her new romantic link. While sitting down for a family dinner, Pumpkin said she is now dating Josh’s cousin, Darrin Kitchens.
People revealed Pumpkin’s confession: “So, I’ve been, like, kinda seeing this dude. He’s been in Josh’s family for a long time…. It’s his cousin.”
She clarified: “They’re not blood cousins.”
However, Mama June quickly snapped back and asked Pumpkin why she would do that. The matriarch also added that she needed time alone to process the news.
Online fans were quick to slam the 28-year-old mom of four, who shares all her kids with Josh. One Reddit user wrote: “The fact that it was Josh’s cousin is so trashy”.
Another added: “The story we got here is she went to a funeral for Josh’s family member and met his cousin then started a romantic relationship with him. Josh was replaced by his own cousin. This is why we call the new man Cusbin.”
Pumpkin stood her ground and defended her decision during the episode. She explained that Darrin is related to Josh’s stepfather to her friend Paisley: “But they’re not blood cousins!
“I’ve known him for a really long time. We were friends back in school, and then, he messaged me on social media. We’ve just kind of been talking, and it’s kind of nice.”
She added that Darrin has no criminal records, unlike Mama June and her previous partner.
Pumpkin said she was keeping the news on the down-low to make sure no one feels awkward at her announcement. Paisley said while the situation is complicated, it’s not bad.
When asked about whether she would tell her ex-husband, Pumpkin said: “I just feel like there’s a lot more to discuss with him than my dating life. I don’t know if we’re quite there yet.”
Pumpkin shares Ella, seven, Bentley, four, and twins Sylus and Stella, three, with her ex.
