On the big day itself, you can find out who’s taking home the extra-sparkly glitterball in the Strictly Christmas special. Stars taking to the dancefloor include Goggleboxer Scarlett Moffatt, Gladiator Jodie Ounsley (aka Fury), actor Nicholas Bailey, comic Babatunde Aléshé, Westlife singer Brian McFadden and All Saints star Melanie Blatt.

There’s Call The Midwife, also on Christmas Day, which sees Sister Julienne and her team heading to Hong Kong to help at a collapsed mission house. Trixie stays back in Poplar, where a gorgeous street parade takes centre stage.

Absolutely Fabulous fans are in for a thrill when Jennifer Saunders appears alongside former co-star Joanna Lumley in Amandaland.

And kids have a treat in store from Gruffalo creators Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, whose book The Scarecrow’s Wedding is coming to screens. Rob Brydon leads the cast, with Jessie Buckley and Domhnall Gleeson as the happy Scarecouple.

Inbetweeners star James Buckley makes a welcome return on Christmas Eve, in new Channel 4 movie Finding Father Christmas on Channel 4. He plays hapless dad Nick, with Lennie Rush as his 16-year-old son Chris, who still believes in Santa and goes on a mission to prove he is real.

There’s festive editions of All Creatures Great and Small and Death in Paradise, while Ant and Dec bring the fun in Limitless Win and Bradley Walsh heads up a tinsel-tastic episode of Blankety Blank.

Fast forward to New Year for blockbuster dramas like Harlan Coben’s Run Away on Netflix, plus the return of ITV thriller Red Eye. And don’t forget The Night Manager on New Year’s Day – nine years after Tom Hiddleston first brought Jonathan Pine onto our screens.

There’s also the latest murderous helping of The Traitors, along with the thrilling finale of cult Netflix hit Stranger Things.
