GBBO viewers angry after Louis Theroux 'robbed' of star baker award in judging twist

Great British Bake Off fans were left upset after Louis Theroux failed to take the star baker title on Tuesday’s episode.

The fan favourite documentary maker competed alongside Ovie Soko, Jenny Eclair and Russell Howard for the special Stand Up for Cancer series.

Social media soon went into meltdown when Louise cropped up in the tent, and despite his best efforts, he surprisingly walked away with no apron.

During the first round, which saw the stars bake a biscuit, both Jenny and Louis received handshakes from judge Paul Hollywood.

Louis Theroux didn’t win on tonight’s GBBO – and fans weren’t happy

In the technical challenge, Jenny impressed the judges with her mille-feuille, while Louis came in a close second.

Despite her showstopper not turning out the way she wanted, the broadcaster still managed to walk away with the top prize – something that didn’t sit right with viewers at home.

Social media soon went into meltdown following the judges’ decision, with many admitting Louis was “robbed”.

“Louis Theroux, you’ll always be first in my eyes,” one wrote.

“Louis was robbed,” another remarked.

While a third exclaimed: “Can Louis Theroux host the show now?”

However, many thought Jenny Eclair, with her bakery-inspired surname, was always going to take home the title.

Viewers weren’t surprised Jenny Eclair won because her name was “made for baking”

“It was a choux in with that surname,” one wrote.

And a second viewer said: “No surprise that Jenny won as her name was made for baking.”

The Great British Bake Off 2020 celebrity specials for Stand Up To Cancer air Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4.
