Hubby fancies mutual masturbation during quarantine – but I’m not sure’

Dear Lisa,

During this scary time following the coronavirus outbreak, my hubby of two years has suggested that to limit touching (following the social distancing) suggestion that we try something new.

He’s recommended that we try mutual masturbation. I can’t lie, I wasn’t that excited.

I wouldn’t say I’m prudish but I’ve certainly always just liked I guess what you would call ‘traditional’ sex – I’m certainly a missionary gal. But I know my husband has a very high sex drive and appreciate his eagerness to stop germ spreading.

But I just feel like I’d be really self conscious doing this and it may be a little ‘out there’ for me. Do you think I should give it a go? And if you do, do you have any advice about how I can ensure I’m not too self-conscious when I’m doing it? Anonymous.

Lisa says:

First of all, you’re married, you’re in a couple, you’re in a loving relationship and you’ve probably seen each other in all your glory.

You’ve done the lot from top-to-toe and it’s really not as embarrassing as you think.

It’s healthy and natural – masturbation is healthy and natural. If you do it in front of each other in a crisis where you’re concerned about germs, it does kind of make sense. Because if you’re spending a lot of time in doors a lot, you still need to have your relief and your time together otherwise you’re going to be like two animals stuck in a cage aren’t you?

And it’s going to be very sort of stressful. And masturbation will provide you with relief, relax you and calm you down and it’s good for you and your whole vibration.

I would, if you’re really worried about it, and you’re feeling a bit prudish, I would just start in the dark, switch those lights off, and go for it in the dark.

Obviously, you’ll have your moans and your groans, and it is a little bit different, but we are going to have to adjust and adapt to this isolation period, and everything that’s going on with the coronavirus.

We’ve got to be very clean and make sure our showers and our properties are clean and your clothes are washed. And if that’s the way forward temporarily, you might have to give it a go.

So, try it in the dark, and then with the lights dimmed, and you’ll probably just begin to adjust.

If you’re both uncomfortable, over time, you will probably just become more relaxed doing it because of your frustration. Or he could just buy a condom, but there you go!

Anyway, I hope I’ve helped you with everything, and I wish you all the best!
