    WENN/Lia Toby

Having been a longtime advocate for queer rights, the ‘Stay With Me’ hitmaker claims that the upcoming album deals with the singer’s lifelong conflict with gender identity.
    Mar 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – Sam Smith’s upcoming album “To Die For” is inspired by the star’s lifelong conflict with gender identity.
Last year (19), the Grammy Award-winning artist came out as non-binary, and revealed they prefer ‘they/them’ pronouns, sparking an outpouring of support from fans online, including those dealing with similar issues.
Sam has been a longtime advocate for queer rights, and speaking to Australia’s The Daily Telegraph newspaper, explained being able to help people is “wonderful.”
“Right now I am just trying to figure out my s**t and if it is helping other people, then it is absolutely wonderful,” the “Stay With Me” star said.
The musician is set to release their new album, which is inspired by the “shame I have felt my entire life,” in May.

Lil Baby Reveals He's Encouraged to Start Beef With DaBaby Over Similar Monikers

    Instagram

Lil Baby admits that many people in his camp try to pit him and fellow rapper DaBaby against each other but he always says no because ‘he don’t kick my swag.’
    Mar 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – Many people might get Lil Baby and fellow rapper DaBaby mixed up since they have similar stage names. Lil Baby recently discussed the matter in a new interview with Joe Budden, revealing that a lot of people had tried to make him see that as something provoking.
“I ain’t gon’ lie, so many n****s tried to go that way with me, but I always curved it from day one. Like, hell naw,” Lil Baby explained to Joe on “The Pull Up with Joe Budden” when the latter asked if anyone in his team tried to position him and DaBaby against each other. “A n***a will be like, ‘He tried to say this’ and I’ll be like, ‘No.’ Every time, I made sure it wasn’t going to be nothing.”
Additionally, Lil Baby shared that he even saw DaBaby promoting himself as a rapper at SXSW before he started taking music seriously. “I seen him at South by Southwest before I really started rapping with a diaper on like on some baby s**t,” Lil Baby said.
“Even though my name was Baby from like hustling before rap. I actually seen him. I got a song with him for a feature before he got hot. … He don’t sound like me. He don’t kick my swag. His name just ‘DaBaby’,” he continued, before revealing that they collaborated on a song before DaBaby rose to fame.

The pair recently reunited on “Baby” off 2019’s “Control the Streets Vol. 2”. Both of them also recently appeared on Future and Drake’s “Life Is Good (Remix)”.
That aside, Lil Baby lately made headlines for his drama with girlfriend Jayda Ayanna or Jayda Cheaves, who is currently feuding with Alexis Skyy. The rapper previously sparked split rumors between him and Jayda, though he set the record straight during his appearance on “My Turn” on Friday, February 28.
When asked if he and Jayda are still together, he responded with an affirmative “yes,” before explaining their relationship, “It ain’t know ‘still together.’ She’s like, my son’s mama. It ain’t no way we cannot be together. Even if we ain’t in a relationship, like boyfriend and girlfriend type s**t.”

Mariah Carey Concludes Las Vegas Residency Amid Struggle to Sell Tickets

    Instagram

The ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ hitmaker ends her ‘The Butterfly Returns’ residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace right on schedule even though ‘she’s not selling out like she used to.’
    Mar 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – Mariah Carey’s Las Vegas residency came to an end, but not on a high note. The “All I Want For Christmas Is You” hitmaker concluded her “The Butterfly Returns” residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on Saturday, February 29 amid reports she struggled to sell its tickets.
For the final show, the 49-year-old singer rocked a plunging black leotard with a detachable black skirt. At one point, she removed the skirt to reveal a pair of nude fishnet tights and matching platform heels. She wore her long blonde locks down and showed off her beauty through glam palette of makeup. She was also seen donning a classy pink gown for the stint.
While the “Touch My Body” singer delivered stunning performance, her residency apparently didn’t fare well in the ticket department. According to Radar Online, she gave free tickets to selected people in order to make sure “sold out” shows even though the highest ticket for her residency was sold for an average of $100.
“Every high roller and whale who’s flying into Vegas is being given free tickets to her show,” a source told the outlet. “They’re being handed out at sports books, included in room service bills and slipped under doors all over the hotel. That’s why she wanted a residency and not a tour – because she’s not selling out like she used to.”
“The Butterfly Returns” residency was a follow-up to Carey’s #1 to Infinity residency which lasted from 2015 to 2017. First launched in July 2018, it got extended for additional February 2019 dates a few months later. Its latest run was for eight February 2020 dates. Radar Online claimed that ticket sales had been low since the beginning, forcing her to sell them at discount sites back in 2018.
Carey’s next move will be headlining Britain’s world famous Brighton Pride event. On Valentine’s Day, organizers confirmed that she will perform at the LGBTQ+ event in August. Their announcement tweet read, “Excited to announce global superstar @MariahCarey, GRAMMY & GLAAD Award winner, and best-selling female artist of all time, will headline FABULOSO Pride In The Park on Saturday 1st August 2020 with a full 75 minute show!”

Artist of the Week: Billie Eilish

The ‘Bad Guy’ hitmaker continues to be unstoppable as she wins big at the Grammys, delivers a touching performance at the Oscars, and makes history with her James Bond song.
    Mar 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – 2020 is bound to be another big year for young rising star Billie Eilish. She kicked off the new year with a bang as she took home a total of five Golden Gramophones including the coveted Album of the Year at the 62nd annual Grammy Awards back in January.
She made history as the youngest person and first woman to win the four main categories, Best New Artist, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year, in the same year. It’s all thanks to her debut album “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?”.
The 18-year-old singer/songwriter then followed it up with a performance at the biggest movie awards, the Oscars. Joined by her brother Finneas O’Connell, she delivered a touching rendition of The Beatles’ ever-lasting single “Yesterday” during the “In Memoriam” segment.
On top of that, she has been enlisted to sing the title track for the upcoming twenty-fifth installment in the James Bond film franchise, “No Time to Die”. With her brother as a producer, she became the youngest artist in history to write and record a 007 theme song.
Shortly after it’s released and debuted during her live performance at the Brit Awards, the single soared to No. 1 on the U.K. charts. It became the second Bond song to top the charts and also gave the female artist her first number one single in the United Kingdom.
Despite all her accomplishments, Billie Eilish keeps herself grounded. On the Grammy night during the Album of the Year winner announcement, she was caught on camera repeatedly mouthing, “Please don’t be me,” before yelling, “No!!” when she’s announced as the victor.
During her acceptance speech, she revealed she was actually rooting for fellow artist Ariana Grande. “Can I just say that I think Ariana deserves this?” she said. ” ‘Thank U, Next’ got me through some s**t, and I think it deserves this more than anything in the world.”
Her brother later explained her reluctance to receive the award, “We were both kind of embarrassed to win so much; you hope that it will be kind of equal, but after the third in a row…well, we love all of our fellow nominees.”
She also had an unlikely reaction to her Oscar performance. Despite getting rave reviews online, she said it could have been better. “I bombed that performance,” she said. “That was trash.”

Judy Garland Orchestral Arrangements Bring In More Than $30K in Auction

The sold collection, which includes ‘Over the Rainbow’ arrangements, has been found in a trunk the late actress left behind at the Plaza Hotel in New York City in the late 1960s.
    Mar 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – A large collection of Judy Garland’s orchestral arrangements has sold at auction for more than $30,000 (£23,460).
Hundreds of song arrangements, including notes for classics like “Over the Rainbow”, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, and “I’m Always Chasing Rainbows”, were found in a trunk left behind by the late singer/actress at the Plaza Hotel in New York City in the late 1960s.
She had primarily used the pieces for her variety series, “The Judy Garland Show”, which aired for one season until 1964, and for a number of stage performances, including at Broadway’s famed Palace Theatre.
The case and its contents were later given to Costas Omero, director/producer of the Plaza show Look Me Up, and his daughter placed it up for sale via Nate D. Sanders Auctions.

The lot sold on Thursday night (February 27) for $30,599 (£23,930) – more than 10 times its starting price of $3,000 (£2,350).

Drake Slammed Over Michael Jackson Reference on New Song 'When to Say When'

    WENN/Instar/Danny Clifford

On the song, the Canadian rapper appears to make reference to music icon Michael Jackson and his Neverland home and that unsurprisingly doesn’t sit well with MJ’s fans.
    Mar 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – Drake excited fans when he released two new songs, “When to Say When” and “Chicago Freestyle”, on Sunday morning, March 1. On the former, the Canadian rapper appears to make reference to music icon Michael Jackson and his Neverland home and that unsurprisingly doesn’t sit well with MJ’s fans.
The song features the “In My Feelings” rapping about his accomplishments and how he goes back to his Canadian mansion to take a break over the past year. “Ayy, thirty-three years, I gave that to the game/ Thirty-three mill’, I save that for the ring/ Five hundred weeks, I fill the charts with my pain/ Five hundred mil and I fall back in the 6ix,” so Drizzy raps.
Later he adds, “Finally give you the n****s the space you need to exist/ Michael Jackson s**t/ but the palace is not for kids.” Drake is most likely referring to Michael’s famous home where the singer was accused of molesting Wade Robson and James Safechuck during their childhood.

“Drake coming for Michael Jackson? Oh he’s gonna get dragged ALL the way back to the Canadian border,” one fan commented on the lyrics. “Drake b***h go f**k yourself. You’re not worthy of mentioning Michael Jackson’s name let alone shade him in your ugly a** songs just for clicks. Stop using his name for clout, clown,” one other hotly tweeted.
“so Drake wants to drop Michael Jackson p*dophile jokes but spend money on a damn unreleased verse for his last album. that s**t is disrespectful af,” someone blasted Drizzy. Bringing up rumors of him grooming young artists like Millie Bobby Brown and Billie Eilish, one user wrote, “Drake really should’ve avoided that Michael Jackson line considering his own history with underage women.”
However, some others jumped to Drake’s defense quickly. “I didn’t take the Michael Jackson line as disrespect .. Clever fact… Drake walked that thin line tastefully and witty in my opinion,” a person shared. Meanwhile, someone else compared the situation to Nicki Minaj’s controversial Rosa Parks lyrics on “Yikes”.

50 Cent to Finish Pop Smoke's Album With Roddy Ricch's Help

    Instagram

The ‘Power’ star and co-creator has received a lot of support after publicly announcing that he’s going to executive produce the ‘Welcome to the Party’ rapper’s album posthumously.
    Mar 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – 50 Cent is going to finish what Pop Smoke had started before his sudden and tragic passing. The former G-Unit member has publicly announced that he’s going to executive produce the slain rapper’s full-length album.
The 44-year-old rapper/actor made the announcement on his Instagram page on Sunday, March 1. Sharing pictures of him sitting on the airstar of a plane and inside the private jet, he wrote in the caption, “i’m on the move listening to Pop smoke, i decided i’m gonna executive produce and finish his album for him.”
The “Power” star and co-creator has also reached out to Grammy-winning artist Roddy Ricch to enlist the latter’s help to complete Pop’s album. “Tell @roddyricch i’m looking for him, i need him on Pop album,” he wrote in another post.

50 Cent has since received a lot of support for his plan to honor Pop, with Steven Victor, CEO of Victor Victor Worldwide where Pop was signed, among one of them. The music executive left a heart emoji and “100” in the comment section.
“You are the best for doing this,” one of Fiddy’s followers responded to the announcement. Another appreciated his kind intention, “Your such a G bro much respect for giving back.” Someone else also praised him, “That’s what big brothers do finish what was started! NYC LOVE.”
Pop died after being gunned down by masked men in his Los Angeles home on Wednesday, February 19 in what was initially suspected as a home robbery. His family, however, has launched a private investigation amid speculation that his death might have been a targeted hit.
50 Cent was among the first who paid tribute to the rising star, posting on Twitter, “R.I.P to my man Pop Smoke, No sympathy for winners. God bless him.” He also wrote on Instagram, “No such thing as success with out jealousy, treachery comes from those who are close. R.i.P.”
