Nicki Minaj Accused of Disrespecting Rosa Parks on Preview of New Song 'Yikes'

    WENN/Brian To

Offering her devoted fans a teaser of her upcoming song, the Trinidadian rapper delivers the bar that gets people wilding online, ‘All you b***hes Rosa Parks, uh-oh get your a** up!’
    Feb 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – Nicki Minaj is about to bid farewell to her retirement with her new solo music. The hip-hop superstar took to social media on Monday night, February 3 to give her devoted fans a sneak peak at her new song entitled “Yikes”, which was soon met with controversy due to one particular line.
Filming herself singing along to the song in a recording studio, Nicki rapped, “Woke up, the price of coke up/ I just hit em with the low cut then call my folks up.” She continued spitting her bars, “This is a mac truck not a black truck/ When we move tell ’em back up/ Click the clack,” before delivering the bar that got a lot of people wilding online, “All you b***hes Rosa Parks, uh-oh get your a** up!”
The line got mixed reaction from social media users, though not a few people were disappointed by the bar and accused the “Bang Bang” rapper of disrespecting the late activist, who is called the “first lady of civil rights” and the “mother of the freedom movement.” One person said, “Nah that Rosa Parks part I don’t like. You shouldn’t had said that. It’s black history month.” Another mad individual wrote, “I loved it… minus the Rosa Parks line!!! It didn’t make sense and it was on the lines of disrespectful!”
Some people decided not to listen to the full version of the song due to the line, while another commented, “I don’t see nothing cute about this song did y’all not hear what she said that was mad disrespectful.” Meanwhile, a different person said, “I liked everything besides the ‘Rosa Parks part’ like damn ain’t it black history month? Where’s the respect.”
The backlash aside, this isn’t the first time Nicki references a female figure in black history. During an episode of her radio show “Queen”, she compared herself to abolitionist and political activist Harriet Tubman when airing her frustration about music industry politics.

Madonna Faces Class Action Lawsuit From Fans Over Late Start to Concerts

    Instagram

Andrew Panos and Antonio Velotta are suing the ‘Material Girl’ singer for breach of contract, loss of value, false advertisement and negligent misrepresentation.
    Feb 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – Madonna is at the centre of a new class action lawsuit over her tardy concerts.
Andrew Panos and Antonio Velotta claim the pop superstar kept them waiting up to three hours before taking the stage at Brooklyn Academy of Music shows in New York last year (2019), and the late concert left them stranded in the city.
Both men allege they missed their scheduled trains or other rides home because the pop star’s concerts didn’t end until 1am, and this messed up their work and school plans for the day after the gigs.
They are suing for breach of contract, loss of value, false advertisement and negligent misrepresentation, and asking for damages and legal fees, according to TMZ.
The new lawsuit comes two months after a similar one was filed in Florida by more angry Madonna fans.
The singer’s ongoing “Madame X” tour has been plagued by concert cancellations and unannounced late shows, all of which the “Material Girl” singer has apologised for.

    Feb 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – K-pop stars GOT7 have scrapped three upcoming concerts in Thailand and Singapore over health concerns as the coronavirus outbreak continues to spread worldwide.
The South Korean band had been due to take its “Keep Spinning World Tour” to Bangkok on February 15 and 16, but event organisers at 4NOLOGUE have since announced the dates have been pulled, citing “coronavirus proliferation concerns”.
Another gig in Singapore, booked for February 22, was also cancelled due to the same reason.
The news emerges days after fears over the coronavirus prompted managers for Super Junior to pull the plug on a pair of promotional shows near Seoul in South Korea on Tuesday, February 4 to support the boy band’s new album.
Meanwhile, K-pop stars TWICE have axed a trip to Tokyo, Japan for a fan meet-and-greet, as have singers Kang Sung Hoon and Kim Woo Seok, who ditched planned gatherings in their native South Korea.

Guns N' Roses Honors Late Kobe Bryant With 'Knockin' on Heaven's Door' at Super Bowl Fest

    WENN

Prior to performing the classic cover with his band, frontman Axl Rose takes a moment to recall a feeling of foreboding the night before the NBA legend’s helicopter crashed in Calabasas, California.
    Feb 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose honoured Kobe Bryant onstage on Friday (January 31) by dedicating “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” to the tragic basketball star and his daughter.
The rocker took a moment out of the band’s Super Bowl Music Fest set in Miami, Florida to remember the sports icon, revealing he had experienced a feeling of foreboding the night before Bryant’s helicopter crashed in Calabasas, California on 26 January, killing the Los Angeles Lakers legend, his 13-year-old girl Gianna, and seven other people.
“The other night coming home from rehearsal… I was like, ‘Is it just me, or is that really weird?'” Rose recalled prior to performing the classic cover.
“It was this fog bank, like a thunder cloud over the trees,” he continued. “It was really white with a slight pink above the trees… It was really weird. The only word I had for that at the time (was) it looked formidable. By morning, apparently, it was much worse. That’s where (Bryant’s) helicopter flew through. It was pretty scary.”
Rose then added, “I want to dedicate this to Kobe and his daughter and everyone on the flight and everyone in the families and everyone impacted by this terrible event (sic).”

Meanwhile, Bryant’s high school prom date, R&B singer Brandy, broke her silence over his untimely passing in a sombre social media post on Friday.

Alongside a photo of Kobe and Gianna, Brandy wrote, “Never will I understand. My condolences to (widow) @vanessabryant, and all families who are in pain during this tragic time. Love #Mamba #Mambacita.”

Roddy Ricch Dethrones Eminem on Billboard 200 With Debut Album

Meanwhile, Billie Eilish’s ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ surges on this week’s chart following the 18-year-old singer’s big win at the 2020 Grammy Awards.
    Feb 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Eminem has to give back the No. 1 spot on this week’s Billboard 200 chart to Roddy Ricch. The rapper’s debut album, “Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial”, is topping the weekly chart for a third non-consecutive week after racking up a little under 95,000 equivalent album units in the week ending January 30, according to Nielsen Music.
His record’s return to the top spot is largely driven by streaming activity with 92,000 SEA units contributing to its overall total of just under 95,000 units. Meanwhile, only 1,000 units were sold in album sales. Furthermore, “Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial” marks the first album to top the chart for three non-consecutive weeks after Billie Eilish did it in 2019 with “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?”
Getting dethroned by Roddy, Em’s “Music to Be Murdered By” descends to No. 2 with 89,000 units. On the other hand, Billie’s debut album sees a surge in this week’s chart thanks to her big win at the 2020 Grammy Awards last month. “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?”, which is named Album of the Year, jumps to No. 3 with 62,000 units. At No. 4, Halsey’s “Manic” is forced to go down two spots with 56,000 units, followed up with Post Malone’s “Hollywood’s Bleeding” at No. 5. It racked up 54,000 units.
Mac Miller’s “Circles” falls to No. 6 with 45,000 units, as DaBaby’s “Kirk” ascends to No. 7 with 36,000 units. Trailing behind the rapper’s album is Harry Styles’ “Fine Line” that moves up to No. 8 with 33,000 units. MoneyBagg Yo’s “Time Served” follows behind at No. 9 with 31,000 units, while Travis Scott (II)-leading project group Jackboys closes out the top ten with their self-titled album that sold 30,000 units.
Next week, the competition for the No. 1 spot is expected to be fierce with Lil Wayne’s “Funeral” and Kesha a.k.a. Ke$ha’s new album “High Road” vying for the spot.
“Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial” – Roddy Ricch (a little under 95,000 units)
“Music to Be Murdered By” – Eminem (89,000 units)
“When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go” – Billie Eilish (62,000 units)
    “Manic” – Halsey (56,000 units)
    “Hollywood’s Bleeding” – Post Malone (54,000 units)
“Circles” – Mac Miller (45,000 units)
    “Kirk” – DaBaby (36,000 units)
“Fine Line” – Harry Styles (33,000 units)
“Time Served” – MoneyBagg Yo (31,000 units)
    “Jackboys” – Jackboys (30,000 units)

Miranda Lambert 'So Sorry' Having to Postpone Weekend Shows Over Voice Loss

    Instagram

The ‘Somethin’ Bad’ singer has rescheduled her Salt Lake City and Denver concert to February 25 and March 2 after she was forced to back out of them due to an illness.
    Feb 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Country star Miranda Lambert has apologised to fans for having to postpone a pair of weekend tour dates after losing her voice.
The “Vice” singer had been due to perform in Salt Lake City, Utah on Friday, January 31, but took to Instagram earlier in the day to reveal she would no longer be taking the stage.
“I’ve been doing everything in my power to be 100% but my voice is just not there. Not even close,” she wrote.
“I am so sorry to let everyone down. Since I’m not well, we thought it would be better to come back and give y’all the best show we can.”

Lambert was then forced to also scrap plans to play Denver, Colorado on Saturday as her illness still lingered.
“I spent the last 24 hours on the bus trying to get as well as I could. No talking. All the tea in the world. Sleep. Meds (sic),” she shared.
“I’m feeling a lot better but unfortunately my voice is just not back yet and there is nothing else I can do but wait. It’s the worst feeling in the world to not be able to show up and put on a show for y’all.”
The gigs have since been rebooked for February 25 and March 2, respectively.

It’s not yet known if any further tour dates will be affected by her ailment, but Lambert will have a few more days to rest before she is next due onstage in Kansas City, Missouri on Thursday.

    Artist of the Week: Kesha

The ‘Your Love Is My Drug’ songstress successfully brings back her bratty, party girl persona that made her famous back in 2009 through her newest album ‘High Road’.
    Feb 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ever since Kesha (previously known as Ke$ha) parted ways with Dr. Luke, she has been delving into musical styles that her former partner prevented her from exploring. One might thought that she would never get back to her party girl persona that made her famous back in 2009, but she was more than willing to return to her roots but with a new self-awareness.
Her return was fortunately met well by both music lovers and critics. The “Your Love Is My Drug” singer’s new album, “High Road” received positive reviews thanks to how well she blended her popular persona, the bratty girl who brushed her teeth with Jack Daniel’s, and her current wise self who still loves to wild out with her friends. The A.V. Club’s Annie Zaleski praised the effort for the music’s diversity, lyrical depth and emotional depth.
With that being said, it’s no brainer that its lead single, “Raising Hell”, received critical acclaim as well. Fusing pop, pop rock, gospel, EDM and bounce, the song peaked at No. 6 and No. 8 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs and Dance/Mix Show Airplay respectively. Meanwhile, Jael Goldfine of Paper called the song “a wonderful midpoint between snarling party girl Kesha half-rapping over crunchy pop-EDM and her soulful balladry on ‘Rainbow’.” Meanwhile, Billboard deemed the song “an all-time keeper.”
All in all, “High Road” was a joyful follow-up to her 2017 album “Rainbow”. Made to address her battle with Dr. Luke, the album was so well-received by the masses that it debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 200. Not only that, but the record also earned her first Grammy nomination. It was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, while its single “Praying” earned her a Best Pop Solo Performance nomination.
