'Sex and the City' Getting a Reboot Without Kim Cattrall

    New Line Cinema

A new adaptation of Candace Bushnell’s book of the same name is reportedly in development without one of the original cast members as the project is heading to the HBO streaming service.

    Dec 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – A “Sex and the City” reboot, featuring original stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon, is reportedly in the works at HBO Max.
The New York Post’s gossip column Page Six cited a “well placed industry insider” as telling them that a “limited series reboot” is coming to the streaming service.
While Sarah, Kristin, and Cynthia are all said to be returning, Kim Cattrall – who has repeatedly said she’s got no interest in reprising her role as Samantha Jones for a reboot – will apparently not. Cattrall and Parker were also involved in a public feud following the death of the former’s brother in 2018.

Despite Kim’s disinterest in a reboot, Sarah – who also acted as a producer on the series – told Entertainment Tonight previously that she’d be up for returning as alter ego Carrie Bradshaw.
“I wouldn’t call it a reboot, I would call it a ‘revisit,’ ” she said. “I’d like to see where all of them are. I’m curious, the world has changed even since the movie… technology and social media. (Plus) sexual politics and the #MeToo movement and Time’s Up… I think Carrie Bradshaw would just be so greedy to share her feelings and thoughts.”
Representatives for Parker and HBO Max have yet to comment on the reboot report.
The original “Sex and the City” series first launched in 1998 and concluded in 2004 after six seasons. It got a movie version in 2008 and a sequel in 2013. In the same year, a prequel series “The Carrie Diaries” starring AnnaSophia Robb as a young Bradshaw came out. It ended after only two seasons.

Family and Friends Remember Whitney Houston and Bobbi Kristina in First Trailer for Lifetime's Doc

    [embedded content]

‘The two-hour documentary presents an in-depth look at the parallel lives of renowned singer Whitney Houston and her daughter Bobbi Kristina,’ states a press release of the new documentary.

    Dec 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Lifetime has released the first trailer for its upcoming documentary about Whitney Houston and her daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown. Titled “Whitney Houston & Bobbi Kristina: Didn’t We Almost Have It All”, the new project features an in-depth look at the lives of the late mother-daughter pair.
Opening the trailer is Perro “Pebbles” Reid, Whitney’s friend/singer/producer. “Whitney was an icon. This is the first time I’ve ever spoken about Whitney,” she says. “We built the perception of Whitney is this pop princess,” producer/musician Randy Jackson adds in confessional. Meanwhile, someone else notes that the “I Will Always Love You” hitmaker “loved her daughter more than anything.”
“There’s so many parallels between Whitney and Bobbi Kristina,” one person remarks in the trailer, adding, “They both had addiction. They both perished in a bathtub.” Bobbi’s best friend Sarah “Bess” Beckmann concludes the clip, “The fact that she was found in a bathtub with the same fate as her mother doesn’t make any sense.”
“The two-hour documentary presents an in-depth look at the parallel lives of renowned singer Whitney Houston and her daughter Bobbi Kristina,” states a press release of the new doc. “Both faced similar struggles — living in the shadow of their famous mothers, criticized for their love choices and often used for their fame and fortune.”

      See also…

“And both turned to drugs and alcohol for relief from the pressures of being in the spotlight, before prematurely leaving the Earth in the same tragic way. In an emotional and candid look at the ups and downs of their personal stories, and a celebration of their lives, ‘Whitney Houston & Bobbi Kristina’ offers intimate conversations with the friends and family that were closest to them,” it continues.
Whitney died in 2012 at 48 years old. She was found unresponsive in a bathtub in a Beverly Hills Hilton hotel room just before the Grammy Awards in 2012. According to the coroner, she died by accidental drowning, but heart disease and cocaine use were among the contributing factors.
Similar to her mother, Bobbi was found faced down in a bathtub in 2015. The 22-year-old daughter of Whitney and Bobby Brown was in coma for six months before she was pronounced death on July 26, 2015. Her death was ruled to be from lobar pneumonia and lack of oxygen, resulting in brain damage.
“Whitney Houston & Bobbi Kristina: Didn’t We Almost Have It All” is set to premiere on Lifetime on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 8:00 P.M. EST.

'The Bachelorette' Grand Finale Recap: Tayshia Adams Struggling to Make Decision After Dad's Warning

    ABC

The grand finale of the long-running ABC dating competition picks up where the last episode off in which Tayshia is shocked over Ben Smith’s sudden return to the show despite him being eliminated at final four.

    Dec 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – The big moment for Tayshia Adams is finally here. In the Tuesday, December 22 finale of her season of “The Bachelorette”, Tayshia had to decide whether she would give her final rose to Ivan Hall, Zac Clark or Ben Smith, the latter of whom returned to the show despite being eliminated at final four.
The episode picked up where the last episode off in which Tayshia was shocked over Ben’s sudden return. “I can tell by looking at her eyes that there’s more under there,” Ben said in confessional, adding, “I know she has a rose ceremony in an hour… but I found a woman I’ve never felt this way about ever in my life, and I have to see where it goes.” Eventually, Tayshia allowed him to come to the rose ceremony that night. Not only that, she kissed him passionately.
Ivan, meanwhile, was confident that he would be the one getting the final rose. “I definitely feel like we have the strongest connection at this point,” he shared. Ivan, however, wasn’t the only one ready for a proposal. Zac told host Chris Harrison that he and Tayshia loved each other and he was “ready for a proposal. I’m ready to do it, but there’s no guarantees, especially around here.”
Later in the rose ceremony, Tayshia mentioned about disagreement she had with Ivan about religion. “I wish I could say that there were a lot of red flags prior to this week. And there haven’t been. It’s just like, at the end of the day, religion’s part of my morals and my beliefs,” she said, to which Ivan replied, “I definitely get it… That is the roadblock for the two of us. I was definitely struggling with bringing it up, ’cause, you know, all the girls I have dated in the past, it never ended because of religion or anything, but I know that’s something that’s important to you.” With that, Ivan was sent home.
The next day, Tayshia introduced Ben to her family. Ben revealed he felt nervous because he wanted to make a good impression. He told Tayshia’s mom Rosario, “I’m in love with your daughter. I’ve never felt this way in my lifetime.” Ben apparently won over her dad Desmond as he told him, “I think you’re a sincere young man. I see some good qualities in you, truthfully, I like that. And I really appreciate you being genuine.”
Tayshia brought Zac to meet her family later. He told Rosario that he could see him and Tayshia getting married and starting a family. Her parents liked Zac and love his chemistry with Tayshia. The next day, as Tayshia still couldn’t decide between Ben and Zac, her dad warned her about making a mistake. “I’ve seen you hurt before, and I can’t let that happen again,” he told her. “It might not be what you want to hear, but I don’t want you to be making the biggest mistake of your life.”

      See also…

The warning definitely further made Tayshia confused and “overwhelmed” to the point she wasn’t sure if she wanted to get married again. But then when she spent some time together with Zac, Tayshia felt that she and Zac were meant together. It helped her realize that her heart wasn’t for Ben.
After she told Ben her feelings, Ben said, “I’m in love with you, that doesn’t change. I saw it going differently, but when you love somebody, you want them to be happy.” He told Tayshia that he was happy for her.
As he met Neil Lane to pick out the engagement ring he would give to Tayshia, Zac got emotional. Meanwhile, Tayshia was back to feeling scared of getting engaged after being divorced.
When Zac met Tayshia with a ring with him, he told Tayshia, “You’ve helped me experience a love I didn’t know existed, and you’ve made me smile more than anyone has ever made me smile. I love you, Tayshia. I love you because you’re a fighter. I love you because you’re a strong, independent woman. You make everyone around you better. I love you because you believe in me. I love you because you’re a total dork. And I love you because you drive me absolutely wild. I love everything about you. And I listened when you spoke of the importance of loyalty. I promise to be loyal to you.”
“That first night when I got here, I was extremely excited about the possibility of finding love, but also very nervous and scared, because I didn’t know if finding true love was possible,” Tayshia responded. “When I first met you, I thought to myself, ‘He’s different, and that man is kind. He shows gratitude, and has the biggest smile. He has been through a lot, but has never given up, But also has learned how to read me better than really anyone ever has, and knows how to comfort me when I’m down.’ ”
“There was one point in my life when I thought I would never get married, because of all the pain and the heartbreak I had been through, and I hit absolute rock bottom. And I know that I told you that I love you, but…,” she added before a long pause, “It’s more than that.”
She continued, “I love you, Zac Clark. And I’ll do absolutely anything to keep that huge smile on your face, because you do everything to keep a huge smile on mine.” Finally Zac took the ring box out of his pocket and kneeled. “Marry me,” Zac said, to which Tayshia replied, “Yes! Yes a thousand times! I love you!” She then gave him her final rose before heading to New York.

KJ Apa Reveals Strict Rules on 'Riverdale' Set for Safe Kissing Scenes Amid Pandemic

    The CW

The Archie Andrews depicter shares the protocol implemented for the cast members on the set of his TV show for every kissing scenes to make sure it’s sure amid the Covid-19 crisis.

    Dec 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – The stars of “Riverdale” are taking no chances when it comes to filming kissing scenes amid the COVID-19 pandemic – the actors must rinse their mouths for a full minute before each take.
Actor KJ Apa has been filming season five of The CW series in Canada since production resumed in October (20), following a coronavirus-related shutdown in September, and there are extra safety precautions in place when the castmembers have to lock lips onscreen.
“They have us come to set a little early,” he tells America’s “Live with Kelly and Ryan”, “and we have to rinse our mouths for one minute. There’s a guy standing there with a timer, counting down 60 seconds, and we have to rinse our mouths out for 60 seconds before the scene, before every take…”
“It’s Listerine,” KJ adds, naming the mouthwash brand, and explaining that the routine “kills all the germs in your mouth.”

He’s not entirely convinced the extreme measures are really keeping him and his pals protected at work, though.
“In my mind, I’m like, by the time you’ve got your tongue in someone’s mouth, I’m not sure it even matters to be honest,” he shares.
But he admits life on set is a little sweeter thanks to the special safeguards.
“I mean, everyone’s got great breath,” he laughs.
While the “Riverdale” cast were required to rinse their mouths before every kissing scene, it’s another story with the “EastEnders” production. Bosses at the British soap reportedly called on the real-life partners of the show’s biggest stars to join the cast and help overcome social distancing regulations. They were enlisted as body doubles for intimate scenes amid the pandemic.

Zosia Mamet’s Week: Log Cabin Living

Mamet reacted by swatting her hand away, and a relationship was born.“We had this immediate chemistry,” said Mamet, who is best known as the “Girls” naïf, Shoshanna Shapiro, “and the scene, just like lava, flowed out of us.”In “The Flight Attendant,” the zingy thriller on HBO Max that just finished its first season, Cuoco plays the booze-swilling Cassie Bowden, who picks up a passenger on a flight then wakes up in Bangkok with his dead body in bed beside her — and no memory of the night before. Mamet is her best friend, Annie Mouradian, a stony-faced lawyer who keeps the F.B.I. at bay using skills she cultivated while representing mob wives. At the moment, Mamet is nesting in New York’s Hudson Valley, with her husband, the actor Evan Jonigkeit, and their dog, Moose. But she more or less lives at the horse stables down the road, doling out snuggles and peppermints to her thoroughbred, Ten. In a Zoom interview from her 1920s Sears catalog cabin, with a log wall behind her, Mamet talked about life in and out of the riding ring, and her seasonal affliction. These are edited excerpts from the conversation.Thursday MorningWoke up at 8. I’m a big-time sleeper. My husband says I could sleep through anything. But I wanted to get up early to give Moose a good long walk. First things, first: coffee, made in a French press with a big chunk of oat milk. I used to be quite picky about the brand of coffee, and I’m not anymore. I know this is a controversial point for snobby coffee drinkers, but we love a flavored coffee in our house, like a hazelnut or a vanilla.Mamet is nesting with her husband, the actor Evan Jonigkeit, in the Hudson Valley. Credit…Heather Sten for The New York TimesThursday AfternoonThe barn is about a 25-minute drive from our house so I normally either do NPR, Howard Stern, music or a podcast. I love a good podcast. Today was the new Whitney Cummings with Alison Brie. I didn’t get past the opening but that alone was killing me. They were talking about the frustration with stores putting stickers on things that you can’t get off, and it leaves this horrible residue. The struggle is real.My horse, Ten, sadly has a boo-boo in her front right foot, so she’s currently on what’s called stall rest, which is basically the equivalent of bed rest for a human. I’ve been gone for almost a month, and she’s developed this very sweet silly habit of trying to nibble on every part of me. Yesterday it was my beanie. Today it was the arms of my jacket. But she’s the love of my life (don’t tell my husband) so just being with her makes me happy.Evan is still in Pittsburgh shooting a new Netflix show called “Archive 81,” so we chatted on my drive home. We like to stay as much a unit as possible. I went out there for three weeks, and then I came home a little bit earlier than him because I wanted to be with Ten. The minute I found out she got hurt, he was like, “If you need to go home, I’ll understand.”Thursday EveningMy best friend, Emma, claims that I was an elf in a previous life. I do all the Christmas shopping for both of our families and all of our friends, so I’m currently set up in our living room surrounded by presents, my Christmas 2020 Excel spreadsheet, wrapping paper, scissors, ribbon, tape. All the essentials. I listened to Alabama Shakes. Evan proposed to “I Found You,” and sometimes when I miss him, I put them on.I’m in bed with a hot water bottle because I’m 90 and watching “The Queen’s Gambit.” I’m trying to savor it because I just think it’s so good. No, I have not learned chess. A card game like rummy, that’s my jam. Chess is too much for my brain to handle.I have a book problem, and there is a stack on my bedside probably 10 books high. I’m currently halfway deep into the latest David Sedaris, “The Best of Me,” and loving every second. I adore him. I’ve read almost all of his books and also listened to a lot of them on tape. His writing is so wonderful to begin with, but then when you hear him reading his writing, it just elevates it to the next level.Friday MorningEvan is the one that got me into the routine of putting music on first thing in the morning. It sets the tone for the day. Whitney Cummings mentioned the Lone Bellow the other day on her podcast, and I hadn’t listened to them in forever, so that’s what was on this morning.Spotify very kindly made me a 2020 playlist of the things I’d listened to most, so I put that on my drive to the barn. It was cold but sunny, so it was more of a sing-at-the-top-of-your-lungs-with-the-window-slightly-down than listen-to-a-podcast kind of day. A few faves on the playlist: Red Hearse, Lucy Dacus, Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac, Phoebe Bridgers. Portugal. The Man is also on there; Nathaniel Rateliff, who came out with a solo album this year that’s super beautiful and lovely. Oh, there’s this great album that I love called “Trio.” It’s Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris. Sometimes when I’m cleaning the house, I’ll listen to it on repeat because their harmonies sound like angels.“My husband is like, ‘How do you spend six hours at the barn?’”Credit…Heather Sten for The New York TimesFriday AfternoonI got to the barn and first had to say hi to Tenny because she’s my princess unicorn, so she needs treats and kisses. Then I got to ride a Polly Pocket-size pony named Snickers. I had my lesson with my amazing trainer Vanessa. I got to ride one of our barn’s trusty steeds named Junior, who gave me a run for my money. My husband is like, “How do you spend six hours at the barn?” Well, we have to untack the horse. When we jump them, we wash their legs and spray them with liniment that keeps their legs healthy. Then we clean all of our tack. It’s part of the process that I love just as much as the riding — the care of the horse, the care of my tack.I stopped at Michaels because I needed a wreath hanger for our door. In middle and high school, there are horseback riding teams called [Interscholastic Equestrian Association], and there’s a whole show circuit. Our barn has one, and each year they take old horse shoes and paint them red, blue, green, silver or gold, and they make wreaths and sell them to raise money for the I.E.A. team. So I got one.Friday EveningI spent a little time decorating. I love Christmas more than anything. My maternal grandmother had this way of making Christmas exceptionally magical. There were all of these traditions, and the house was full of smells and sounds and lights. We always decorated the tree together. I’ve been enamored with magic since I was little, and what is more magical than Christmas? I’m the person who will sit on the stairs with all the other lights off at night and just watch the tree.I finally realized I was starving so I went with tacos. I listened to Phoebe Bridgers’s new holiday album, which is heartbreaking and gorgeous and sadly only four songs, so I had it on repeat for a bit. Then I put on “The Prom,” which was delightful, while wrapping presents. Elf duties.Saturday AfternoonI love Marc Maron’s podcast, and a friend recommended his episode with Glenn Close, so I finished that up on the way to the barn. What an epic human. What a crazy life. I had no idea she was in a cult! There are a few podcasts I’m obsessed with. I love “You Must Remember This,” which is all about old Hollywood. On the drive to Pittsburgh, I listened to “Dr. Death.” Oh my God, it’s crazy and fascinating. It’s about this surgeon who keeps botching all of these spine surgeries, but everyone’s too afraid to report him to the medical board. So he just keeps moving from hospital to hospital and paralyzing people. It’s very dark, but it was a six-hour drive, so it kept me entertained.Saturday EveningI’m about to start wrapping more presents while watching “Let Them All Talk.” Then it’s a pit stop for some of my banana bread that is my favorite thing ever. It’s gluten- and dairy-free with like five ingredients and yes, I know — Covid/lockdown/banana bread — but I’ve been making this literally for years. So please, no judgment.Sunday MorningWe were having a barn-decorating contest at the farm today so I decorated Ten’s stall with a unicorn theme. I didn’t win, but it’s just an honor to be nominated or whatever.Sunday AfternoonAfter the judging for the stall-decorating contest, we all gave our secret Santa gifts. Then I took down Ten’s decorations because she almost ingested a 10-foot-long piece of tinsel.Sunday EveningI headed home to wrap more gifts and hang with Moose. I really want to watch “PEN15,” but Evan and I watch that together so I can’t. So perhaps an old movie, possibly “Death Becomes Her.” I just realized that there seems to be a Meryl Streep theme going on here. Listen, I love me some Meryl — I mean, who doesn’t — but I definitely didn’t do that on purpose. Although what says, “It’s the holidays!” more than Meryl Streep? So I guess that’s it: I’m just in a very Meryl Christmas mood.AdvertisementContinue reading the main story More

The social media stars boast almost 150 million followers between them, and Charli became the first to scoop 100 million fans on TikTok last month (November).
Now the teenagers and their parents – former Republican Senate candidate Marc and ex-model and photographer Heidi – are headed to the streaming service for new series “The D’Amelio Show”.

The family of four has partnered with bosses at The Intellectual Property Corporation, the brains behind “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath” and YouTube’s Paris Hilton documentary for the project, while Sara Reddy has been named its showrunner and executive producer, along with Eli Holzman, Aaron Saidman, and Esther Frank, according to Deadline.

Though Charli is the best known D’Amelio, Dixie, who boasts almost 47 million TikTok followers of her own, is already making waves with her music career, having collaborated with the likes of former One Direction star Liam Payne and rapper Wiz Khalifa.
“Two years ago, Charli and Dixie D’Amelio were virtually unknown outside of their town, and now have over 100 million fans who tune in daily for their every move,” Hulu’s vice president of documentaries Belisa Balaban shared in a statement.

NeNe Leakes Calls for 'RHOA' Boycott After Her Exit, Claims She Was 'Demoted'

    Instagram

In a virtual interview, the book author also urges her Twitter followers to sign petitions to boycott the Bravo reality TV show and ‘repost the boycott flyers when you see them, turn off your TVs.’

    Dec 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – NeNe Leakes is sharing her new agenda, and it’s about getting her fans boycotting Bravo’s reality show “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”. On Monday, December 21, the 53-year-old star took to her Twitter account to ask her followers to cancel the show following her departure.
“Y’all ready to start this boycott yet? What has happened behind the scenes is WRONG!” so she tweeted. “While others were being promoted, BLACK WOMEN who created shows, created genres, built franchise and built networks were being DEMOTED … TURN OFF YOUR TV’S.”
In a separate tweet, the “Glee” actress went on to urge her fans, “Sign the petitions when you see them, repost the boycott flyers when you see them, turn off your TVs.”

Later in a virtual interview, the author admitted that she never thought to be in this kind of situation. “When you work at any company, you want elevation. It’s about leveling up, whether I was an actress or an executive. Everyone wants to level up in their opportunities in their jobs,” the OG “RHOA” star shared, adding her co-stars were being elevated while she was demoted instead.
Claiming that she was “given less and less episodes and these girls were getting more and more episodes,” NeNe noted that all original cast members across the franchise were getting increases except for her.

NeNe confirmed that she wouldn’t be returning for season 13 of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” in September. “It wasn’t an easy decision for me. It was hard,” she said in a YouTube video at the time. “I’m just so happy that I can say that I was a part of a genre that opened up doors for Black ensemble reality shows. I want to thank everybody that has looked up to me over the years. … I want to thank Bravo for all the memories. … Thank you to the cast for all of the memories.”
Later in October, she opened up to Tamron Hall that she was “forced” to depart from the popular reality show due to unfair offer. “I can’t tell you everything I want from them, but I can tell you that I want fair treatment. I deserve fair treatment,” she said while getting emotional. “I haven’t done anything that no one else has done there or haven’t done even worse. So, I don’t deserve this treatment.”
