    One Direction Members Celebrate 10th Anniversary While Zayn Malik Stays Silent

    Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan mark the group’s first decade anniversary on social media by giving each other a shout-out while Zayn remains mum.

    AceShowbiz – The former members of boy band One Direction have marked the 10th anniversary of their formation on talent show “The X Factor” by thanking each other and fans for the ride so far.
    During the bootcamp rounds of the U.K. series, on 23 July, 2010, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik were put together as a group, and went on to reach the finale of the contest.
    They became international superstars and remained a five-piece until 2016 when Malik quit to go solo. The remaining bandmates then announced a hiatus, which has been in place since the beginning of 2017 – with no signs of ending.
    Despite fans’ hopes of a 10th anniversary reunion, Niall, Harry, Liam, and Louis remain committed to solo careers, but they took time out on Thursday (23Jul20) to jump on social media and acknowledge their anniversary.
    Posting a shot of himself and his four bandmates on Twitter, Style wrote, “I’ve been struggling to put into words how grateful I am for everything that’s happened over the last ten years. I’ve seen things and places that I’d only ever dreamt of when I was growing up.”
    “I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and working with some of the most incredible people, and gained friendships that I know I will treasure for the rest of my life. None of this would be possible without the support you’ve given along the way. And for that, I will be forever thankful. I just can’t believe it’s been ten years. Thank you to our crew, our team, and everyone else who helped us along the way. To all the fans, I love you, and I thank you with all my heart. You did it all, and you changed everything.”
    “And finally… to the boys,” he added. “I love you so much, and I couldn’t be prouder of everything we achieved together. Here’s to ten.”
    Horan added, “When I met these four gents there was no way I thought we would go on to do what we did. So many unbelievable memories we shared together. We felt the adoration of millions from around the planet on a daily basis and it was mind blowing.”
    “It’s such a major part of our lives and always will be. Cheers to US today boys and thank you to all you beautiful people who have supported us over the last 10 years.”
    Tomlinson also jumped on Twitter to mark the occasion, writing, “Too many incredible memories to mention but not a day goes by that I don’t think about how amazing it was. @NiallOfficial @Harry_Styles @LiamPayne @zaynmalik. So proud of you all individually.”
    And Liam Payne added a screenshot of a text he sent his father on the day One Direction formed, which featured the first photo of the group and read “Im in a band (sic).”
    He wrote, “What a journey… I had no idea what we were in for when I sent this text to my Dad ten years ago at this exact time the band was formed. Thanks to everyone that’s supported us over the years and thanks to the boys for sharing this with me #10YearsOfOneDirection.”
    One Direction have also released a special five-minute video documenting their time together, featuring behind-the-scenes footage from their music promos and tours.

      Even though the post simply consisted of the words, “10 Years of One Direction” written against a black background, it was the caption that got people thinking that the group would make a reunion. “Tomorrow! You and me got a whole lot of history,” so the caption read, along with the hashtag “10 Years of 1D.”
      Fans were unsurprisingly elated over the possibility of a reunion. “DUDE WE’RE GETTIN THE BAND BACK TOGETHER,” an excited fan wrote in all-caps, as someone equally couldn’t contain her/his excitement, “AM I DREAMING RN?! THIS IS ALL HAPPENING RIGHT WHEN IM GONNA TURN 18TH?!” Another one said, “BROOO ITS LIKE JUST HITTING ME THAT ONE DIRECTION MIGHT REUNITE TOMORROW IM CRYING.”
      There was another person who joked that s/he would be very willing to be Zayn Malik’s replacement if they would reunite, while an individual commented, “No but actually. If one direction doesn’t reunite tomorrow or drop a new song I will simply be passing away.”
      Originally composed of Zayn, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan, One Direction was formed in the seventh season of “The X Factor” U.K. Version. Despite finishing third on the competition, the group became a worldwide sensation and won nearly 200 awards throughout their careers. In 2013, they became the second-highest earning celebrities under 30 according to Forbes and was named the world’s best-selling artist of the year.
      Despite their very successful years, the band later announced that they would be going on a hiatus and 2016 as the members started pursuing other projects.

      Devotees are convinced Niall and his bandmates will be doing something special to mark their 10th anniversary, but the Irish singer has revealed there’s nothing on his calendar.
      “We’ve barely spoken about it,” he tells Smallzy’s Surgery. ”It’s the 10-year anniversary coming up (and) we were chatting (to see) if there was anything we could release. We came to the conclusion there was nothing.”
      His comments come after bandmate Liam Payne recently revealed he had been reprimanded for hinting at a comeback.
      “I can’t say too much,” he explained. “Louis told me off for revealing a bit of our plans the other day. So you’re going to have the group telling me off on the group chat.”

      AceShowbiz – ABBA fans are desperate for the group to reunite, according to a new poll from ticket resale site StubHub.
      The Swedish group topped the poll with an impressive 40 per cent, scoring well ahead of runners-up Oasis and One Direction, which landed 28 and 18 per cent of the vote, respectively.
      The Swedish pop group, comprising members Agnetha Faltskog, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, last released new music in 1982, but have maintained their appeal due to the use of their music in movies including “Muriel’s Wedding” in 1995, and the recent “Mamma Mia!” franchise.
      Rockers The Verve, ’90s boyband Boyzone – who called it quits last year (19) – and ’80s indie band The Smiths, followed in the ranking, with 14, 13 and 12 per cent respectively.
      Destiny’s Child (12 per cent), Crowded House (12 per cent), Sugababes (11 per cent) and No Doubt (11 per cent) rounded out the top 10.

      The “Strip That Down” singer got himself into hot water after seemingly confirming plans for a comeback to celebrate the group’s 10th anniversary later this year, and he told U.K. TV show “Good Morning Britain” (GMB) on Friday, April 24, 2020 he’s “already said too much” on the subject.
      “I can’t tell you too much because I’ve already said too much,” he said. “There’s been a threat from one of the members that he’s going to egg my house if I say any more so I don’t want that to happen.”
      He added, “It’s been nice, we’ve been talking to each other a lot more. The lines of communication are a lot more back open with everyone. I think we’ve realised how special it is to get to a 10-year anniversary of anything really.”
      Reflecting on the success of the group, which was formed on U.K. TV show “The X Factor” in 2010, went on to share, “To have gone as far as we did and be as successful as we were and still be here today and receiving all the things from the fans, it’s really nice, so we’re definitely feeling how special it is and making sure we’re telling each other that.”
      While fans were convinced the group is set to reunite after Liam, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson all re-followed former member Zayn Malik on Twitter – five years after his sensational departure from the band – the “Bedroom Floor” star later suggested Zayn wouldn’t be making a comeback.
      During the “GMB” chat he joked about “bringing (DJ pal and collaborator) Alesso in as a fifth member,” hinting the group will reunite as a four-piece.

      Fans are convinced the group is set to reunite for the milestone later this year (20), after singers Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson all re-followed former member Zayn Malik on Twitter – five years after his sensational departure from the band.
      According to Britain’s The Sun newspaper, Simon, the group’s mentor on “The X Factor” U.K., wants the band he created to perform on the final of this year’s “Britain’s Got Talent”, while James, who is a friend of the group and has performed a number of skits with them on his late-night U.S. TV program “The Late Late Show with James Corden”, is also keen to host their return.
      “Simon was their mentor who first had the idea of putting them together as a group and they are one of the most successful acts from one of his shows,” an insider said. “But while all the One Direction boys adore Simon and enjoy working with him, there are other TV shows today.”
      “Harry Styles is very good friends with James’s executive producer Ben Winston – he even used to live with him – so his inclination is to lean towards James’s show.”
      The source also highlighted how the other band members are friendly with James and believe his program is a good platform for the comeback.
      Speaking on James’ show recently, Liam teased of the 10th anniversary celebrations, “I’m not allowed to say too much because I’d be giving it away but we’ve been speaking a lot more at the moment. I think that we’re all feeling that the 10 years (anniversary) is a very special moment.”

      AceShowbiz – One Direction will reportedly mark their 10th anniversary with a TV special rather than new music.
      Social media has been alight with speculation over the boys’ reunion plans after eagle-eyed fans spotted all four members of the group, who went on hiatus at the end of 2015, re-following departed member Zayn Malik on Twitter, and that the One Direction account has also been reactivated.
      Directioners have been sharing screenshots that purportedly show the boys plan to release a new track, “Five”, in October, to mark their 10th anniversary, but a source tells British newspaper The Sun any reunion is likely to be a small TV celebration.
      “They are back in touch but talks between them are only about something small to mark the anniversary,” the insider says. “They all have their own music ongoing so a reunion right now just wouldn’t make sense.”
      Three of the lads were due to go out on tour this year, but have been forced to pull gigs due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the source close to the group says the delay in promoting their solo records means a full reunion is off the cards for now.
      “Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson have postponed tours which they will need to complete,” they add. “A reunion with all five members is a wonderful idea but in practice these things take a long time to arrange and it doesn’t seem feasible at the moment. And with the continued threat of coronavirus, it is unlikely they will be able to get together for the anniversary.”
      However, Liam Payne has fuelled rumours they will get together to mark the 10th anniversary of their 2010 formation on “The X Factor” U.K. by telling The Sun that it’s under discussion.
      “We’ve got a 10-year anniversary coming up so we’ve all been speaking together a lot over the last few weeks,” he teased.”There’s a number of different things that we’re trying to make happen.”
      Representatives for the band did not immediately respond to a request for comement on any reunion plans.

      The British boyband went on an extended hiatus in 2015 following the departure of Zayn Malik from the group. And in an interview on Jordan Stephens’ Spotify podcast “Killing It”, Liam admitted that the boys’ hectic schedules and lack of sleep were partly responsible with how things came to an end.
      “We all just got on with it, you know, it was just a case of this is your job and this is what you do and then you just slowly spiralled into this thing,” he explained. “I mean, more than anything for us, I think the danger zone is in the band. And actually what probably caused the demise of it, towards the end, was just the tiredness more than anything. Everyone makes stupid decisions when they’re tired.”
      Liam’s revelation comes after bandmate Niall Horan previously told Britain’s The Daily Telegraph newspaper, “We got tired… just tired out. Five albums, five tours, in five years. We were all knackered.”
      Elsewhere on “Killing It”, Liam reflected on being rejected from “The X Factor U.K.” as a 14-year-old – two years before he returned and was put into a group that eventually became One Direction.
      “People would ridicule me in the street and all sorts when I was, like, 15 or 16,” he recalled. “I once went in McDonald’s when I was turning 16 and I went up to order my thing, went to sit down with the girl I was with at the time and a group of lads at the top of the stairs were like, ‘X Factor reject!’ ”
      “Then the whole restaurant was looking at me. It was a really hollow moment, that was like, ‘Oh right, now I know what it’s like to lose fame.’ ”
      Fans are convinced the group is set to reunite for its 10th anniversary later this year 2020, after Liam, Niall, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson all re-followed former member Zayn Malik on Twitter – five years after his sensational departure from the band.

      The “Pillowtalk” hitmaker was an original member of the group from 2010 to 2015, when he sensationally quit the band and went solo, leaving Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan to continue as a four-piece.
      The stars have made no secret of their subsequent feud with Zayn, with Niall recently commenting the star “never really spoke to” the group after walking away from the spotlight.
      However, eagle-eyed fans have spotted a development in their relationship, as all four members of the group re-followed Zayn on Twitter – around the same time the official One Direction account was also reactivated.

      Posting with the hashtag #OneDirectionReunion, fans also spotted the group’s imagery on Apple Music had been updated to include Zayn. And according to several users, the list of band members displayed on Google has also been amended to include all five stars once again.

      During a recent interview, Liam hinted at a forthcoming reunion – though he didn’t name Zayn as part of the plans.
      “We’ve all been speaking together a lot over the last few weeks, which has been really nice,” he said. “To hear a lot of people’s voices and seeing old content and different things that we haven’t seen for a long time or never seen before, it’s very interesting… More than anything it’s just been a real good time for us to connect together again.”
      One Direction rose to fame on U.K. TV talent show “The X Factor” in 2010, and topped charts worldwide with hits including “What Makes You Beautiful”, “Night Changes”, “History” and “Story of My Life”.
