I'm A Celeb hit with 134 Ofcom complaints over treatment of animals and vomit

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! has been rocked with over one hundred Ofcom complaints since the ITV show launched on Sunday.

The show only launched two days ago but has already been slapped with 134 complaints to the broadcasting regulator.

The night of the launch a staggering 12million people tuned in to watch while the UK was in lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic.

I’m a Celeb’s launch show led to 50 viewers complaining to Ofcom after ITV aired scenes of Radio One DJ Jordan North throwing up with his sick visibly coming out of his mouth which many fans deemed too “graphic”, the MailOnline reports.

Other viewers have also complained for animal welfare reasons. It comes after some viewers said Shane Richie and Jordan North were “crushing” the snakes in the Viper Vault trial on Tuesday. Ofcom has not specified if the animal welfare complaints pertained to the Viper Vault trial.

A total of 54 people have complained about the treatment of animals on the show, which is usually filmed in Australia, and is hosted by Ant and Dec.

The remaining 30 complaints will be revealed in Ofcom’s weekly report out on Wednesday.

Viewers were left furious during the launch show when Jordan being sick was shown on TV.

The stars had to abseil down a cliff and before he even started Jordan threw up to the side as the panic took over him.

Walking away from his co-stars, Jordan walked towards the bushes, leant over and threw up as his campmates watched on in horror.

Jordan told the camera: “I feel quite anxious. I do feel a bit sick. This isn’t a normal thing to do.”

Moments later his nerves got the better off him and the star threw up in front of his fellow stars which he had just met.

The grim task was the first of many and lined the celebs up for their castle entrances – leaving Jordan little choice but to take on the cliff.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV.
