AceShowbiz – Anne Hathaway was floored to see an embarrassing moment from “The Princess Diaries” shoot in the film’s trailer.
The Oscar winner was among the stars who agreed to be part of a tribute to late TV mogul and filmmaker Garry Marshall, which aired in America on Tuesday night (May 12), and she recalled working with the beloved director on the hit 2001 movie.
“One of the things that I love about Garry is that he’s never afraid of the spontaneous moment,” Anne said. “If it was good, it was in the movie. He didn’t care where it came from.”
To make her point, the “Les Miserables” star recounted filming a scene with Heather Matarazzo on bleachers in San Francisco, California after a rain storm.
Marshall told the castmates to walk up and down the benches trying to time it, so Anne was always at the bottom when Heather was at the top.
“We had to get the shot really fast because we were losing light,” Hathaway giggled, “and we had to go on these bleachers and they did their best to wipe them down.”
“I guess one take Heather had a lot of energy, so she’s moving faster and I mistimed it and I realised that we were going to be on the same step, so I turned really fast, slipped on a puddle and just fell… and burst out laughing and kept going with the scene.”
“(I) never thought about it again and all of a sudden, six months later, it’s in the trailer. He (Marshall) kept it because it was a charming moment.”

“The Happy Days of Garry Marshall” also featured tributes from the filmmaker’s “Pretty Woman” leading lady Julia Roberts and “Happy Days” co-stars Henry Winkler and Ron Howard, among others.
