The Great British Bake Off fans were left shielding their eyes during this evening’s episode, as a pineapple upside-down cake took a tumble.
As part of the series debut, each of the contestants were instructed to bake pineapple and cherry buns for the technical challenge, with an arty layer of whipped cream.
However, as they lined up to lay their baked goodies on the infamous red checkered counter, disaster struck.
Contestant Sura, 31, spotted a fly on one of her buns and swatted it away – only to accidentally smack her competitor’s tray.

Armoured guard Dave, 30, had been walking behind her with an array of puddings, only for four of the six cakes to tumble to the floor.
Pharmacy dispenser Sura immediately rushed to apologise, with tears in her eyes as she tried to explain the accident.
Hurrying to reassure her, Dave replied: “I’m sure they can go by what they looked like before I brought them over.”

Hosts Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding were quick to console Sura, as they noticed the floods of tears in her eyes.
Matt said: “The good news is the front two look absolutely fine and we’ll tell Paul what happened.”
Dave made it clear there were no hard feelings, as he said: “Accidents happen.”
Meanwhile, over on Twitter, viewers couldn’t get over the mishap, with one writing: “Poor Sura my jaw was on the floor when she hit that tray of cakes.”
A second added: “Oh my heart aches for Sura. That was just an accident, I feel bad for her.”

And a third chimed: “Accidents happen – poor Dave and poor Sura. And spare a thought for the tent carpet too! #GBBO”
Later, as Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood came into the tent to judge their bakes, they were delighted to chow down on Sura’s desserts.
Crowning her the winner of the challenge, Sura looked conflicted as she accepted the coveted title.
She confessed: “It’s bittersweet because I feel so sad for Dave. I wish it didn’t happen to be honest.”
