Britain's Got Talent fans left aghast as surprise fifth judge interrupts show

Britain’s Got Talent viewers were stunned when a surprise fifth judge made an appearance in tonight’s series 14 launch.

Simon Cowell was back on the judging panel alongside Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.

However, there was an extra judge, which left fans gobsmacked.

Simon, 60, invited his adorable son Eric, 6, to join the judging panel during a magician act’s audition.

Adorable Eric certainly stole the show as he was involved in the incredible magic act.

He gave the magic duo their fifth yes.

Fans went into meltdown at the adorable surprise appearance.

One said: “Little Eric is so cute and the double of his daddy.”

While another wrote: “Eric is cute as hell.”

A third added: “Eric Cowell is just the cutest!”

At the start of the show, hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly addressed the current coronavirus pandemic.

The presenting double act, both 44, were seen from the comfort of their own homes and they clarified to viewers that the filming of BGT was prior to the lockdown.

Ant said: “We just wanted to assure you that everything you’re about to see was filmed this year in January and February.”

Dec continued: “We hope tonight’s show puts a smile on your face.”

Ant and Dec recently revealed that Britain’s Got Talent live shows will return later this year after they were cancelled due to the coronavirus.

The ITV talent show announced last month that they would still be airing the pre-recorded audition, but the live shows would be postponed.

Ant and Dec said that the Britain’s Got Talent live shows are expected to go head later this year, if the situation gets better in the future.

Ant told Dermot O’Leary on his Radio 2 show: “The auditions start next Saturday a week tomorrow which we’ve already shot, there’s some great talent again this year.

“I think we’re going to do the lives later on this year hopefully, depending on the world.”

Dec added: “You can’t really make any firm plans at the moment can you? Everything is slightly up in the air. But later on in the year probably for the lives I think.”

Britain’s Got Talent airs Saturdays at 8pm on ITV
