Jason Manford, 38, may get his wish to help out at a supermarket during the high demand caused by the coronavirus just yet.
Earlier this week, the comedian revealed that an application he’d put in to work at Tesco had been denied.
However the official Iceland Twitter account has now reached out to him and offered him a job in exchange for a charitable donation.
A tweet from the supermarket’s account read: “Our door is always open for you. Help us out for the day and we’ll make a donation to the NHS in your name.”
The chain’s managing director added: “Looking forward to welcoming Jason Manford to Team Iceland.”

And it appears that Jason is keen, as he replied: “See ya on the ice…land.”
It comes after his application to join a Tesco store in Wilmslow, Cheshire as a delivery driver was turned down.
He told his 328,000 followers: “Absolutely livid. I was only trying to do my bit [laughing emoji]. I hope the better person got and enjoys the job, I’ll be watching.”

Despite confirming that he was taking the application seriously, to try and help out in a time of need, he added: “I even signed my CV off ‘previous experience: comedian, so I know that it’s all in the delivery!’ Still nothing!”
Jason went on to tell a follower: “That was a joke. Of course I’m not livid!
“I applied seven weeks ago when I thought, like everyone, the supermarkets were going to need 20,000 extra staff.
“Since then I have been volunteering (quietly, ’cause God forbid anyone thinks you’re virtue signalling).”
A Tesco spokesperson has since said: “We’ve recruited around 50,000 temporary workers during the coronavirus pandemic and they have played a huge part in helping us to serve customers safely during these unprecedented times.
“Jason’s skills would have no doubt brought a lot of joy to our customers and colleagues, so it’s a shame he didn’t make the deadline for this vacancy.
“But should he ever want to join the Tesco family in the future, we’d be happy to receive an application from him.”
