Love Island's Georgia Harrison says show 'needed a break' as summer series axed

Georgia Harrison has said Love Island will benefit from taking a break this summer, as filming of series six was axed due to the lockdown.

The 25-year-old star rose to fame when she appeared on the ITV2 reality show back in 2017, coupling up with Sam Gowland before she was eliminated after 12 days.

Since making a name for herself as an Islander, Georgia has carved out a showbiz career in her own right, with beauty ranges and an enormous online following.

Ahead of the launch of her brand new lash serum, the reality star reflected on ITV’s decision to temporarily take Love Island off the air.

She said: “To be honest I think they’ve done the best thing taking a break. I don’t think if you have a TV show that’s doing well that you should just overdo it.

“I think it will come back, and I think it will come back bigger and better than ever. Maybe a break would do it good, really.”

The Essex babe was quick to add that Love Island has a bright future on our screens, insisting a break will give the show a welcome breath of fresh air.

She said: “I don’t think it’s run its course, I think there will always be a space for Love Island. It took over the nation in a way that another TV show never quite has before.

“It’s got a really fun-loving, nice energy to it as a show.”

Last year, ITV bosses announced plans to debut the first-ever winter edition of the show, which captivated viewers back in January.

Georgia suggested show producers should consider another dazzling spin-off, flinging original Love Islanders back into the villa for a second shot at romance.

She said: “In my opinion, I think they should bring back all the old Love Islanders that are still single and they put us all back in there and they see what happens.

“Id love it! Think about it – we’ve all sort of met each other at times, and there’d be so much drama and excitement.

“It would just be brilliant and people would already be invested in the characters so I’m just hoping that one day they do that.”

Though Georgia is game for another Love Island appearance, at the moment her energy is fully focused on her brand-new line of cosmetics.

Named Georgia By Executive Styles, the Ex on the Beach star has collaborated on a brand-new eyelash serum, which has been created to make lashes more durable and healthy.

Speaking about the project, she said: “It’s made from argan oil, and I first discovered it went I went to LA because I met a guy that has an argan oil haircare brand. It’s literally amazing.

“It’s literally so effective. I was using it for four weeks in LA and it got to the point where I couldn’t wear sunglasses any more because my eyelashes were so long they were coming to the lenses.”
