Meet Kate Garraway and Derek Draper's two children Darcey and Billy

Kate Garraway ‘s husband Derek Draper has been in intensive care after becoming seriously ill with coronavirus for more than two months.

Derek was rushed to intensive care in March, and was put in a coma days later.

He tested positive for Covid-19, and as of June 5, he is still in ICU.

Derek has now recovered from coronavirus, but Kate isn’t sure if he will pull through as he’s still “very sick”.

The GMB presenter has said she is trying to “stay positive” for her children.

The TV presenter isn’t currently hosting Good Morning Britain or her Smooth Radio show, as she is busy looking after her children.

Kate and Derek, a former political adviser, have been married since 2005.

Kate Garraway has two children with her husband Derek.

Daughter Darcey, 14, was born on March 10, 2006.

Their 10-year-old son William, who goes by the name Billy, was born on July 18, 2009.

Kate as said she couldn’t be “prouder of how she [Darcey] and Billy have coped with these past two horrific months for our family”.

She added that they are “always finding ways of lifting up our spirits and staying strong even when they can see me wobbling”.

Who is Derek Draper?

Derek is a former labour lobbyist from Chorley, Lancashire.

He was a political aide to former Labour cabinet minister Peter Mendelson.

Later he retrained as a psychotherapist, and spent three years studying in California.

In the late 1990s Derek worked as the Political Editor of the Modern Review.

He also worked briefly as a columnist for the Daily Express, and presented on Talk Radio UK.

In 2009 he founded and edited the blog LabourList, but eventually stepped down.

Kate and Derek were set up by a mutual friend, and they married in 2005.
