Mica Paris lands EastEnders role as singer's 'fiery' character set to cause stir

Singer Mica Paris is set to join EastEnders, playing ‘fiery’ character Ellie Nixon, according to reports.

It’s claimed the 51-year-old star will make her first appearance on the BBC soap in September.

Her character is apparently set to to cause a when she enters Albert Square.

Talking about the role, mum-of-two Mica said: “I am absolutely over the moon to be in EastEnders.”

She continued telling The Sun: “My character the formidable Ellie Nixon, is a new frontier for me as an actress – a lot of folks will see me as never before.”

A source also told the publication that EastEnders bosses wanted to kick off the show’s return with a ‘bang’ by casting Mica in the role.

They said bosses think Mica, who’s full name is Michelle Antoinette Wallen, will bring ‘the spark’ to the soap.

The insider added: “Her character is fiery and passionate and will take no prisoners. Walford won’t know what’s hit it.”

Mica, who hails from South London, found fame in the 1980s with songs such as My One Temptation and Where is the Love.

Her debut album So Good also went platinum.

As well as her music career, she also hosted two seasons of TV show What Not To Wear and had a Radio 2 show called Mica Meets.

Alongside this, she had a stint on Celebrity Masterchef, getting to the semi-finals, and has had parts in West End musicals such as Fame.

EastEnders is set to return to BBC One on September 7
