Peter Green dead: Who is Fleetwood Mac co-founder's ex-wife Jane Samuels?

It was confirmed Saturday evening Fleetwood Mac co-founder Peter Green has died aged 73.

The statement from Swan Turton solicitors said: “It is with great sadness that the family of Peter Green announce his death this weekend, peacefully in his sleep.

“A further statement will be provided in the coming days.”

Born in Bethnal Green, the musician briefly married Jane Samuels in the 1970s, but their union was short-lived.

Green co-founded Fleetwood Mac in London in 1967 with former Bluesbreaker Mick Fleetwood on drums and Jeremy Spencer on guitar, and the band was originally called Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac featuring Jeremy Spencer.

Their repertoire consisted mainly of blues covers and originals, mostly written by Green, but some were written by slide guitarist Jeremy Spencer.

The guitarist composed Fleetwood Mac’s highest-charting song Albatross, which reached number one in the UK’s single chart in 1968 — still the band’s only number one song.

As a co-founder of Fleetwood Mac, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

The musician, real name Peter Allen Greenbaum, left the band in the 1970s, as he struggled with mental health difficulties.

He married Jane Samuels, a Canadian, in 1978.

How long were they together?

Tributes have been pouring in for Peter Green, including one from Fleetwood Mac co-founder, Mick Fleetwood, who called him his “dearest friend”.
