X Factor boss Simon Cowell praised This Morning host Phillip Schofield for opening up about his sexuality, calling it “a very positive thing.”
The music mogul, who is currently filming Britain’s Got Talent, admitted his sexuality has been well-talked about over the years, and confessed he would tell people if he was gay and wouldn’t “hide”.
Speaking on talkRADIO, the Syco boss said: “It makes me laugh, because 20 years ago I would be doing interviews and the first question would be, ‘Are you gay?’ and I would say, ‘No’.
“They would say, ‘Yes you are!’ and I’d go, ‘Do you honestly think it would be a problem if I was? And that I would hide it like there is something wrong?’ I told them, ‘If I was, I would tell you’.

“But it used to crack me up that it was seen as something bad you would have to hide.”
Talking about Phillip coming out journey, which saw the star address his sexuality on This Morning, Simon confessed being gay “is not a conscious thought anymore.”
“To that point, I think it is a very positive thing (with Phillip). You’ve seen the support he has got because nobody cares (about his sexuality).”

He added: “I’ve worked on films, TV, in music and probably 50 percent of the people I have worked with are gay, have been gay, whatever.
“It’s not even a conscious thought anymore.”
Earlier this month, Phillip, 57, came out as gay and hailed his wife of 27-years Stephanie the “kindest soul I have ever met”.
The pair, who married in 1993, share two children together – Molly and Ruby.
In his statement, the This Morning presenter said he’s been battling “some very dark moments” but praised his family for “smothering me with kindness and love, despite their own confusion”.
