The Chase ‘s Jenny Ryan had some harsh words for one contestant this evening when she got a question about music wrong.
Catherine stepped up to the plate, hoping to earn enough dosh to take her husband on a ski trip to the snowy slopes of Canada.
Though she currently works in IT, as a customer support engineer, Catherine revealed she has a musical past.
Chatting to presenter Bradley Walsh, she said: “I used to be a piano teacher, I taught for nine years.”
Two years ago, she changed her career path, as she recalled: “I just fancied a change.”
Unfortunately, despite her experience in both music and technology, she answered a question about the two subjects incorrectly in the cash builder round.
Squaring up to The Vixen, Jenny was quick to scold her over the slip-up, she remarked: “Hello colourful Catherine.
“That was quite embarrassing that you got that question wrong that was about music and technology.
“You really should have got that.”
Taking it on the chin, Catherine agreed: “I really should have got that.”
Catherine narrowly avoided elimination in the second round, making it through to the final with £5,000 to her name.
Baring her teeth, Jenny joked that she was “furious” Catherine had escaped her clutches, as Bradley asked how she was feeling.
She said: “Furious. My ‘Neighbours’ knowledge let me down and let Catherine through to the final. Not what I wanted”
Playfully, Jenny quipped: “I could have had her!”
Jenny managed to beat the remaining contestants – Catherine and Clohe – in the final round, though she praised their valiant performance.
Saying goodbye, Jenny remarked: “Well done girls, particularly Catherine.
“If you lived a little closer to Bolton I’d invite you to play on my quiz team!”
The Chase airs on weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
