Britney Spears claimed that her conservatorship, controlled by her dad Jamie Spears, was too “oppressive” as it stopped her from even decorating her own home.
The 29-year-old has been under the conservatorship since 2008, following her breakdown in 2007, but newly discovered court documents give an insight into how she feels about it.
According to The New York Times, the pop princess claimed that she had lost control of making any decisions for herself.
The documents, from 2016, claim that Britney’s father Jamie “restricted everything from whom she dated to the colour of her kitchen cabinets”.
In a closed court report, it was written: “She articulated she feels the conservatorship has become an oppressive and controlling tool against her.”
Britney reportedly also said that her dad’s control was “too, too much”.
The Circus songstress is said to want the conservatorship brought to an end “as soon as possible”.
An investigator said: “She is ‘sick of being taken advantage of’ and she said she is the one working and earning her money but everyone around her is on her payroll.”
Brit has been trying to have her father removed from her conservatorship since 2014, suggesting reasons such as his drinking as to why he should not be in control.
Her court-appointed lawyer Samuel D Ingham III said last year that Jamie Spears is a recovering alcoholic and Britney is “afraid of her father”.
The star is estimated to be worth $60million (43m) thanks to her music and Las Vegas residency, but her dad allowed her a weekly allowance of $2,000 through the conservatorship.

It’s reported that Britney lived “with a lot of fear” as there were “very harsh” consequences if any mistakes in her spending were found.
Britney is scheduled to address a Los Angeles court as she continues to try and have her father removed from the conservatorship.
However fans have been trying to campaign to have Britney released from control, using the hashtag “#FreeBritney”.
Britney has been the subject of a number of documentaries this year which looked at her conservatorship and life.
And the star spoke out against them on her own social media accounts.
“2021 is definitely way better than 2020 but I never knew it was gonna be like this,” she wrote.
“So many documentaries about me this year with other people’s takes on my life… what can I say… I’m deeply flattered!”
But she added: “These documentaries are so hypocritical… they criticise the media and then do the same thing?”
