Corrie's Catherine Tyldesley pregnant with second child as she announces baby's gender

Catherine Tyldesley is pregnant with her second child with husband Tom Pitfield.

The 38-year-old Coronation Street actress is now 14 weeks pregnant, and told Hello! Magazine that her baby is due in April next year.

In her emotional announcement, Catherine admitted she “burst into tears” when she found out she was expecting.

She told the publication: “We’re absolutely elated.

“We feel so lucky. When we found out, I just burst into tears.”

Catherine already has one child, six-year-old son Alfie – and now a baby daughter is set to join their family.

In stunning snaps, Catherine could be seen in a flowing pale blue gown as she cradled her blossoming baby bump.

She also shared a gorgeous snap to her own Instagram page, with her looking absolutely radiant in a purple off-the-shoulder gown.

Captioning the snap on social media, Catherine wrote: “I can’t tell you how utterly blessed we feel right now. We are so happy to announce that @tompitfieldphotography , Alfie and I are expecting a baby.

“It’s been tough keeping this a secret let me tell you!!”

She went on: “We had the most incredibly special shoot with @hellomag last weekend. Beautiful photographs we’ll treasure forever.

“Out tomorrow. Link in bio with super exciting gender reveal.”

Her fans and former co-stars rushed to comment on the post, including Helen Flanagan who played Rosie Webster in Corrie.

She wrote: “Dreamy. So happy your special news is finally out!”

This Morning star Eamonn Holmes added: “Don’t know how… but I didn’t tell a soul! U look great Cath. Lovely being with you last week. Stay well x”.

And Katie McGlynn, who played Sinead Tinker on the cobbles, added a row of heart-eyed emojis.

The former soap star comes after Catherine spoke about suffering from hormonal imbalances which left her thinking she was pregnant – even when she wasn’t.

She even feared she was going into early menopause during the first weeks of her pregnancy.

She explained: “I took so many tests as I was convinced I was actually pregnant, but in fact my body was just mimicking a pregnancy.

“So this time, even when my stomach was a bit swollen, I just thought: ‘Oh hormonal imbalances again.'”

Catherine, however, does suffer from the same condition Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton has – hyperemesis gravidarum.

The condition causes severe nausea and sickness during pregnancy.

Catherine admitted previously: “It is not like morning sickness as you feel sick all day. It is the same thing Kate had, although I have not been as extreme as her.

“I was put on medication and that has been a godsend as I feel so much better.”
