Coronation Street star Paula Lane, who played the unfortunate Kylie Platt, looks a far cry from her character on the cobbles after her soap exit.
Paula is currently appearing in a pantomime production of Sleeping Beauty, and regularly updates her social media followers on how her progress on the stage is going.
Snapping a pic in her dressing room, Paula could be seen wearing a black tank top as she applied blush with a make-up brush, beaming at the camera.
Partway through her transformation into pantomime villain Maleficent, Paula looked ultra glam – and unrecognisable from her gobby Coronation Street character Kylie.
She opted for a dark smokey eye and blush high on her cheeks, along with a dark red lip to give her that villainous edge before going on-stage. With her sleek brunette tresses worn loose to her shoulders and a huge smile on her face, though, it’s difficult to imagine her transformed into a panto baddie.
The star captioned the snap: “Come on Tuesday… let’s be having ya! #12DayStretch.”
In another snap from earlier in the week, Paula looked far closer to the part as she posed with an evil smirk on her face, fully in costume for her pantomime appearance.
She looked stunning in a jewelled headpiece comprised of black feathers and snakes dripping down onto her forehead, along with a traditional puff-sleeved dress and dark lipstick for the in-character shoot.
In another snap she donned a black-and-purple headpiece emblazoned with silvery jewels and black fairy wings, all dotted with feathers, as she got micc’d up for the performance.
Paula explained: “When I hear the laughs over the intercom it literally melts my heart. How lucky are we – can’t wait for my children to see the show on Sunday!”
She added: “Show #2 of the day! #SleepingBeauty now I have wings I can be extra bad!”
And it looks like Paula’s kids also have acting in their genes, as they appear to be following in their mum’s footsteps.
Paula, who shares a son and daughter with hubby Tom Shaw, celebrated her kids’ getting parts in the Christmas nativity play at school – and they’d even drawn her an adorable picture to celebrate.
Sharing a snap on Twitter, Paula explained that her daughter Penny would be starring as an angel, while son Arthur was appearing as the ‘Whoops-a-Daisy Angel’.
She penned: “Proud mummy – off to watch my boy Arthur as the Whoops-a-Daisy Angel and Penny as an angel. Tissues at the ready! Go well kids!”
Paula has certainly been busy since leaving Corrie back in 2016 after a six-year run as Kylie Platt.
Along with appearing in various stage productions including Kinky Boots and Sleeping Beauty, she’s also starred in shows like Call The Midwife, Heartbeat and Doctors.
